If Frieza trained like Goku won't he be the strongest?

In the newest movie, Frieza trains for four months then takes on SSJGod Goku, and holds his own. What if he trained like Goku? Any DBZ diehards have thoughts about the matter?

Well he doesn't get a zenkai boost. I suppose he could get stronger though.

Yeah probably his race is the only one besides Saiyans to have further evolutions of and he only had to train a little bit.

Not necessarily but he would be terribly powerful for sure.

No.

Vegeta and Goku both state that if Frieza had trained properly with his new form instead of heading straight to Earth, he would have beaten them easily. Frieza was already stronger than the two of them, the issue was that he couldn't maintain his new form or his power level.

Lost me there.

Goku was doing fine, frieza realized this initiated plan b and had his henchmen shoot him in the chest with a laser that can shoot through anything. Vegeta subs in and pummels him.

The concepts of "potential" and "limits" play a large role in Dragon Ball, but I feel that people often misunderstand the ideas due to an inaccurate English dub.

It's true that Freeza trained for only four months and received the biggest power boost in the whole series. The rationale for this is that Freeza is a "prodigy", after all he was literally BORN with a power level of 120,000,000 so it makes sense that he could grow in strength at a much faster rate. However, everyone in Dragon Ball has their limit, a cap so to speak, and at that point training becomes more difficult because you need to continually break that cap and push passed those limits. It is at that point, when your potential runs out, that everyone gains strength at the same rate, if they do the same training.

For example, currently Goku already reached his limits while, say, Goten has not. If they each did 100 pushups, Goten would gain a lot more strength than Goku does. However since Goku and Vegeta have both reached their limits, if they each did 100 pushups they would gain the same amount of power.

Goku was destined to be pretty much the weakest Saiyan in history, even his brother Raditz who was considered a low-level grew up to have a power level of 1,200, and that was without any training. Yet Goku who trained all the time and had several near death experiences (zenkais) only grew up to have a power level of 400 or so. Imagine if he didn't train like the other Saiyans? His natural power level was probably like, 50.

Anyway Goku reached his "limits" at several points in the series which is why he required advanced and versatile training regiments from several different masters in order to continue gaining strength, in order to push passed those limits. I haven't seen the movie so I don't know if the Golden form is Freeza's "limit", but even assuming he still has potential left, he would have to hit his wall eventually too. Nobody has limitless potential. Therefore is Freeza trained for an additional four months, he would not receive an equivocal power boost, the gains would likely be a lot less.

Think of it like this. A hose is pouring water into a bucket. In this metaphor, the bucket is power level, and the hose is training. However since Freeza has loads of untapped potential, his hose is bigger and therefore more water will come out, meaning his bucket will fill up faster than someone else's. However once the bucket is filled to the max, as in it reaches its maximum potential, the playing field is evened out.

So no, Freeza's strength is not a plot hole. People say that all he had to do was train for one more month and he would have beaten Whis with ease. They are wrong, because (presumably) Golden form was Freeza's limit, meaning another month of training would have yielded vastly inferior results. Another month of training probably wouldn't have enhanced him at all, he would probably have needed a few years in Otherworld or something, like Goku needed after achieving Full-Power Super Saiyan.

Gotcha. But IIRC Goku said that if Frieza had trained as he should have, rather than leaving for Earth the moment he gained his new form, Frieza would have won.

Freiza was already stronger than Goku. And thats only with 4 months of training in his entire life. If he trained as much as Goku has then he would be far, far, far, FAR more powerful than Goku.

Basically, Frieza just got those newbie gains?

Given Frieza was born thousands of times more powerful than even elite saiyans I think it's fair to say that if he had the same drive to train and grow stronger as Goku he'd be vastly more powerful.

Yup. It took Goku years to reach the power of a god, and Frieza accomplished it in months.

Yeah, specially considering his only training partner was fodder to him. With a proper teacher and partner he would have at least reached Beerus powerlevel

I think I may have posted here, but, if he went into the hyperbolic chamber for 10 days (10 years) and mastered everything he has, he could even surpass Geno or even the one above all in power. He could unlock platinum form if it exist.

And stop telling me to bump threads, this is America not North Korea.
