I give it a year or 2 and the next Robin might be John Blake. I think DC wants to bring him in their comics, The same way they brough Harley Quin into comics
I think I know who the next Robin will be
Thats a cool idea. Not sure how I'd feel about it, but certainly cool. I'm sure he'll appear in comics soon enough, or at least an homage to him.
@Rell127: The problem with this is that John Blake already exists in their comics. He was an amalgamation of different traits from the Robins, most notably Dick and Tim.

Who is John Blake?...
The character that JGL played in The Dark Knight Rises.

After appearing in some episodes of The Animated Series, Harley Quinn originally appeared in The Batman Adventures which was a tie-in to the series, and then became popular enough to be written into the main continuity. I don't think there is, or has been, a Dark Knight Rises tie-in comic so it would maybe be a bit odd to just suddenly have him start appearing in Batman comics.
To anyone reading this, has there been a Dark Knight Rises tie-in comic series?

At first, I read this as "I think DC wants to bring him into the New 52, the same way they brought in Harley Quinn," and I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

The funny thing is that the same thing happened with Renee Montoya.
And she was a police detective. (or an Officer?)
Harper Row will be the next Gotham vigilante. Read the latest issue of...Detective I think, I may be wrong. But Batman breaks her nose, she still comes back and give it six months we will get a new female Robin
Notably, a lot of old comic ideas that were incorporated came from radio shows, cartoons and movies. Not a bad idea, actually.
If John Blake makes it into the DC universe it will probably be as a cop. I just cant see him being a new Robin. Plus DC isn't one to take influences from the movies and put them into mainstream comics like Marvel. I cant think of a time where the comics were affected by the movies. Heck Bruce Wayne was DEAD when the Dark Knight came out.
IF there is a new Robin (which I really dont think there should be until Damian comes back) it will more than likely be Harper or on a very off chance Ellie. Batman should seriously operate without a Robin and the Batman and Robin series can become a team up book.

Honestly, he can stay dead. He was okay but bring him back in 20yrs, like Jason Todd. Make it worth something before having him come back

Agreed.
There should never have been another Robin after Jason. By that time Bruce should have realised "wow, this is really, really not a good idea".
Not to say Tim, Damian and Steph aren't terrific characters, but they have no right being sidekicks to the guy who battles the Joker, Scarecrow, Killer Croc, Poison Ivy, Clayface, Black Mask and the Black Glove.
The original intention for Robin was a good one; have a character for younger readers to relate to and in-universe, to remind Batman that not everything is evil and dark. But the thing is, the comics weren't half as vicious back then. Joker tried to poison cops, he didn't cut his tongue in two and try to run over children. So now we have 12 year olds fighting guys who are more than willing to shoot them in the head because Robin is a popular character/identity. Weak, DC, weak.
Yeah I agree with this and that's ignoring that there have just been way to many of them especially when they want to keep Batman from aging to much. If they really just couldn't give up the idea of a Robin then they should have stuck mainly as a supporting character who he does NOT bring out into the field.@Dernman said:

Shove him on the Teen Titans, at least then he'll be dealing with guys like Gizmo (Deathstroke and guys like Trigon being obvious exemptions).
I actually wouldn't be opposed to this. But I only think it would make sense if John Blake were to play a more major role in future movie installments. If Samuel L. Jackson can become a comic book character, why not JGL?

And technically, an Officer Blake DID appear in the Batman Comics, far far before TDKR came out.
99% certain it was during one of the Catwoman issues of War Games.
Does there have to be a new Robin? I don't think so - certainly not in a hurry. Surely Batman would think long and hard before taking another sidekick?
@Reignmaker:The way I'm looking at it is that Ultimate Nick Fury was based on his look, rather than Ultimate Nick Fury being created after Samuel L. Jackson portrayed him.
However, it seems that Nick Fury Jr. might have been created because of Jacksons' Nick Fury portrayal in the film, but that doesn't quite work as it wasn't Nick Fury Jr. in the films(as far as I know).
I suppose Mace Windu might count actually, if there were Star Wars comics before The Phantom Menace came out.
