How would you feel if Mutants really existed?

Let's be honest, in theory we'd all like to believe we wouldn't freak out if mutants existed. But in actuality if there were adolescents blowing up schools (by accident) and causing random-crazy mutant kind of things to happen, would we be okay with exterminating or at least registering them?

I know for one if actual Mutants existed I wouldn't be participating in any riots, but I would be a little apprehensive about mutants.

They would be hunted down by the government.

They already do, dude. Mutations happen all the damn time.

you realize mutants are the same in marvel and DC, their powers come from gene mutations. For example Black canaries cry in DC is from her metagene, just as banshee's cry in marvel comes from his metagene.

on topic: I try to stay as open-minded as I can, think with objective factors in mind - not subjective, so I would like to think I'd be "accepting". The country's response (USA), would probably depend on how sudden & extreme the discovery of super-powered people came about (I would just would have to imagine it would be much more boring IRL).

@acer51: I could nitpick and mention that mutants don't get powers, they have powers, but that's kind of beside the point. Better wording would make the thread's title a little less ambiguous sounding, just a thought.

I would discriminate and hate them for no other reason than they are different from us!

Of course, I'm just kidding when I say that. I guess it'd be a little weird at first to know that others around me are mutants but I'd probably just learn to live with it.

I'd be mad If I didn't get any cake and ice cream.

i am sorry very noobish question, why do people hate the mutants so much in the marvel when there is almost a superhero for every street.

Personally that doesn't sound paranoid at all. Because honestly, the question which government is suddenly moot seeing as every government would have a stake in mutants. If you don't want to use them as weapons of war or run test to understand, control, or recreate their abilities, you still have to deal with the potential threat they would represent nationally.

X-3 didn't do a lot of things right, but I think they perfectly nailed it with :

It isn't that mutants aren't people, but rather that they are. The saying about power corrupting isn't essentially true, but likewise it isn't false either. If you give an individual an excess of personal power in society then you're just asking for dictators and madmen which are invariably going to arise. And every government no matter what their view on human rights might be would have to face that reality and plan accordingly.

Go to mutant brothel, ask shapeshifter to turn into my favorite celebrity or best friend's girlfriend

Use MGH like armstrong did with doping

Graft mutant organs like U-men did from black markets

I'd be ok, slightly uncomfortable about them (don't want to write 'afraid' lol) and a little jealous to be honest. A lot depends on how they behave, actually.

I would be envious of them because I'm not an omega-level mutant.

I wouldn't have anything against mutants as a group, but I would probably be pretty damn scared of the individuals I know to be bad.

I believe they would be treated like gay people and even how African Americans were treated. But I think I would support them

i personally would be okay with mutants ( scared of the magnetos and apoclypse's of the world but only bcause they are bad people with power... not just because they have power). I would be especialy cool with them if i was a mutant as well. Wouldnt be much different from being black and im already that haha

Unlike some, I'm not stupid enough to say, "Hey, you dirty mutie, go back to where you came from!" to someone who could melt my face off. Though of course some *southerners* would be.

In the real world, that'd just create Magnetos.

i would be a bit jealous if i wasnt a mutant and yes, there would be prejudice against them but i definately wouldnt be amongst them, i would be helping the mutants realize their true potential.
