Assuming it was in capable hands and done well?
I think it would be pretty badass. You could have a whole ancient Egypt type backstory, and it would be a different take for a superhero movie. DC should take some chances like this.

Granted, I haven't read much of Hawkman, but I doubt he can hold his own full-length movie. Plus, think there's quite a few characters that DC should make a film for first.
@battle_forum_junkie: @peppeyhare: Well I definetely agree there, I was just wondering how well you think it would be received if it was done.
@imthedamnbatman: If it was done well, I'd probably watch, or at least rent it. But the character isn't popular enough for DC to even chance it. It would probably flop just because the chacter in't very well-known. A direct-to-video animated movie, though, that's another story.
I would like to see as it could be Indiana Jones of Superheroes movies. But Hawkman is one character I can't imagine DC/WB pushing anytime soon, he's got a rather confusing origins stories (if you want to include the Alien one) and looks rather lame especially by Batman and Superman. I mean he's cool but yeah it wouldn't work.
Doesn't every new movie have a chance to flop? So...I don't see why just because a character isn't popular or well know means that a movie would flop, compared to any other new movie that introduces a new character, setting, scenario and so on.
I really don't understand this....regardless of the movie, it has a chance to flop, it's not because of some specific thing.
WB/DC could care less wat the fans want.So who cares??And if a movie did come out for him I'd go see it.Hell just about any DC movie....Lol.S*it I'll go see a Etrigan the Demon movie.As well as Dr.Fate,Raven,Doom Patrol,New Gods,etc...DC baby.Only if its done right of course:)
@retconcrisis: Haha it did actually.
@jedixman: Well I'm not saying nescassarily before or after the main movies, just in general, what if they did one?
I'd rather see like a hundred characters get a movie before Hawkman
This. However Hawkman is a classic Justice Leaguer, and should eventually show up if they ever create a DCCU. Thanagarians were already teased in the Man of Steel prequel comic.

And this. They have to streamline his origins. It's weird how the New 52 rebooted Superman and Wonder Woman, but not Hawkman who needed it.
But as for the costume, the classic look is lame, but if they used the Young Justice look it would be cool.
@martianmanhunterisbetterthancy: Yes that's probably one of the best Hawkman's costumes.
I'd watch it.
Having the film take place on Thanagar would be awesome. I think Hawkgirl might have a better chance at holding the movie, though. Maybe the villain could be Onimar Synn. If they clean up his (and Hawkgirl's) origin and make their costumes look better, I don't think it would be a box office flop. They would need some sort of build-up, though. Maybe a couple cameos.
