How would Deathstroke do as a replacement for Batman

So I was playing Batman: Arkham Origins with the Deathstroke free roam mod, and I started to wonder how he would do as a replacement for Batman.

So lets say Bruce Wayne and the entire bat family all get sick for some reason. Then Bruce hires Deathstroke as a replacement for him while he's sick.

How would Slade fare against the Gotham crime families? How would he deal with The Joker's insanity? What about Bane's strength? Could he resit Poison Ivy's seduction? Could he solve The Riddlers riddles? etc .

Would he survive? Would he be killed? Or would he just do what Batman couldn't and kill everyone?

I'd prefer it if pre-52 versions were used since they have more feats/history (and I just like pre-52 versions more) but feel free to use new 52 versions as well.

Edit: I guess there's nothing stopping Slade from killing anybody, but lets just say Bruce will pay him more if he does this non-lethal.

Well he is pretty much better than batman in every way except fighting skill and smarts so he could definitely do an extremely good job but he doesn't understand Gotham or its criminals like batman does so he might have trouble at first dealing with them but after a while he would be an amazing batman.

Every hero should have a Superior version! That's what Marvel Now and the New 52 should have been. You can't pick up a Marvel or DC title that doesn't have "Superior" in it!

Yeah hard to imagine him not just killing off any enemy he encounters, it's just what he does

DC/WB have been promoting Deathstroke as the Anti-Batman as of late. So probably not.

First of all, I see what you did there.

Second, I started to laugh when I pictured the beard out of the Batchin. xD

However, it takes more than killing villains, there is detective work, posing as Bruce Wayne, ect.

Deathstroke was also to near perfectly mimic Batman in Winick's OUTSIDERS, so if Slade had to fill in for Bruce, he could do the job.

He wouldn't fulfill the concept of Batman well.

He would be better. He would end up putting Bruce out of a job.

Cape and other major crimes would be over in just a few months and there would be no villains at Arkham or Blackgate. They'd all be taking a dirt-nap.

That would be awesome.

Crime in Gotham would go down by at least 80% overnight when word gets out that the Batman has apparently gone apesh*t and now has powers, guns, and kills criminals.

Major villains would be gone, too:

Riddler traps Batstroke in chains, and throws him into a tank of water or something - instead of solving the riddle, Slade busts out and throws Riddler out of a window

Penguin would be nothing but target practice

Joker dies too

Two-Face and his gang get wiped out in several hours

C-listers like Calendar Man or Firefly are wiped out in minutes

Gotham City would be a much nicer place to live in, that's for sure.

Deadshot could be Robin!

I could imagine the two of them just sitting on a rooftop casually sniping crime.

It's way better than Superior Spiderman for those referencing that. The idea of him trying to fight like Bats makes me think of Iron Fist replacing Daredevil.

Anyway I think he would kill villains but I also think Batman is flawed for not killing bad people.

@bflynn316: Yeah, it would be pretty cool if they did this idea, unfortunately DC would never do something like this in their main continuity, however I think it would make a great Elseworlds story, and since it would be an Elseworlds story, they could have Slade do anything they want, like killing The Joker or something.

I don't believe they do. Last time they did one was a decade ago.

Well, firstly batman is all about heroism. Off course he'd kill of some villains, but not without collateral. Secondly I'm really not sure if slade would be a better detective. Lastly, once crime is under his boot, and he's eliminated enough villains, I think the criminals will start to take him a lot more seriously, and do better working together at least until slade is out of the picture. Not to mention the city would be a lot more against him. The dark Knight is a vigilante but does enough good that at the very least Gordon does his best to keep people off his back however he can. Slade probably wouldn't get any mercy.

It would work fine. But Batman probably would be broke if he wants Deathstroke to be the new Batman.
