How powerful are Mario's fireballs?

I'm referring to Mario from MB I-III. Clearly, the fireballs are quite powerful in Mario's universe, but how would they fare against enemies outside of his world?

Examples: various terminators, Judge Dredd, King Kong, Data, Batmobile, Captain America, average Predator, Zangief, Rocket Raccoon, Worf, etc., etc., etc.

I doubt that one would have kill anyone. If they would just stand there and Mario would be hitting them, then except terminators he would probably kill in time all of these.

It's a one hit kill, it's the way the game was designed. If we were to compare it to real life they'd probably be as powerful as a stick of dynamite.

There's absolutely no way to tell. You might as well ask how durable he is based on the original games.

From what I recall of the games, they are a bit more powerful than having a grown man jump on top of you, but much, much less powerful than a thrown hammer, so… I have no idea.

Not very strong at all. The enemies the fireballs killed were all so weak they were slaughtered by a slightly overweight man landing on them. Meanwhile Mario bosses can survive many jump attacks and fireballs.
