I just started collecting comic books a little over six months ago and I'm currently following seven series;

Avengers

Guardians of the Galaxy

Indestructible Hulk

Iron Man

New Avengers

Nova

Superior Spider-Man

Is this an average number of series to follow? I don't want to bite off more than I can chew.

@dm225:

Hey, same here! I'm currently getting...

Avengers

Deadpool I'm going to start picking it up after the new story arc starts next month.

Guardians of the Galaxy

I dropped Captain America and Age of Ultron recently, So... that's it.

I really need to start spreading my wings and get some more titles.

EDIT: Just added Aquaman to my pull list. Yay me!

Seven is a pretty admirable amount. I assume that is probably at the lower end of what the average comic reader does. Personally, I read between 15 and 25 series at a time, which is probably on the higher end of what is average. Then there are people who only read one or two series, and people who read upwards of 50.

I got started with just one series, New Avengers #1 back in '04 and moved up to about 5 different books pretty quickly. I was probably between 10 and 15 up until I graduated college a few years ago. Between the massive increase in Avengers titles, the New 52, and an increased income, I got up to where I am now pretty quickly. It would be nice to trim my list a bit.

Some of what I'm currently reading: New Avengers, Avengers, Young Avengers, Ultimate Spider-Man, Hawkeye, Deadpool, All New X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, Thor, FF, Green Arrow, Batman, Justice League of America, Earth 2, Animal Man, Justice League Dark, Fathom, Shadowman, Saga.

At the moment ten. I recently dropped a few because I either wasn't enjoying them or - in the case of Superior Spider-Man - I was enjoying them but not enough to warrant buying it twice a month. I'm considering starting on a few others in their stead but for now I'm going to leave it.

  • Avenging Spider-Man
  • Indestructible Hulk
  • Justice League
  • Justice League of America

Well, I'm currently collecting the series with my favourite characters in, I most likely would collect a few more titles but at the moment I don't have the money to do so (seeing as there are always birthdays or other reasons to spend money elsewhere) anywho this is my current pull list:

  • Batman
  • Guardians of the Galaxy
  • Nightwing
  • Superboy
  • Superman
  • Superior Spider-Man

I'm planning to get Superboy starting from issue 20, gave the previous couple of issues a try and didn't like them. I will also be adding Superman Unchained to my pull list when it comes out.

Thanks for all the replies. I've decided to pick up Aquaman and Batman starting with issue #18 each. That puts me at nine and I've decided I don't want to go past ten for now so that leaves me with room for one more. Any must reads for me based on what I'm currently reading?

Wolverine and the X-men

Winter Soldier

but

I really want to start getting

I have to wait a while though.

Besides those I have a longer list of books I am interested in but not sure if I should buy them or not.

Hawkeye

Uncanny X-Force(Humphries)

Superior Spider-Man (I hear mix reviews, and I am interested)

Cable and X-Foce

Uncanny X-Men (but do i have to get All New X-Men?)

Ultimate Spider-Man (I have to catch up though)

X-Factor ( I have been very interested in this series but I have A lot I mean a Lot to catch up on, so unless I get some extra cash or find a great deal like I did for Irredeemable I may never read this)

Lastly there are several other books I wish I could read, but I have decided not to, or they stopped printing/making them.

Recently dropped the following to make my wednesday not just about reading comics: Alpha: Big Time (interesting, but isn't a must-have), Batman: the Dark Knight (Too many Bat-Books and this one really lags behind the rest), Batman Incorporated (Morrison gives me a migraine), Birds of Prey (I like the characters, but it's just not up to snuff), Green Lantern Corps (Gardner and Stewart are far from my favorite Lanterns), Red Lanterns (just isn't very good), Savage Wolverine (Liked the boobs, but seriously, that's all that book has going for it), Talon (good, but felt like I could give it up and wouldn't be missing out terribly), Threshold (was only reading it for the Larfleeze back-ups, so with his new book coming out, who needs it?).

#38 Posted by GundamHeavyarms (695 posts) - - Show Bio

Well, lets see.

DC.

Aquaman, Flash, Supergirl, Threshold (I buy it digitally, I like it, and I hope the trade comes out by this time next year so I can read it more indepth) JLA. Upcoming series the movement, just because it reminds me of Gen 13. Seriously, why isn't there a new Gen 13 book, it just seems so obvious.

Marvel. Wood's X book, Avengers, Captain America.

Archie Sonic, Sonic Universe, Mega Man (Worlds collide starts on the 10th!) New Crusaders (a teen book I love) and The Married Life. I love the Married life.
