How many people did Light Yagami kill

I know that a number was never specified, but how many people do you think Light killed through out the series? (this includes people who were killed by misa, mikami, and anyone else light ordered to use the death note)

Keep in mind that he had to kill enough people that nations began to accept kira's rule (including the U.S. government)

@knightofzero: I don't remember how long he and his accomplices were being Kira, can you refresh my memory?

I'd guess he were around 5 years and he might've killed 23 people a day on average. So let's say 23 people * 365 days * 5 years = about 42,000 people. Might be forgetting something though.

Most of that time, he was trying to hide his identity. For a year, he had somebody else doing the killings. So there are definitely gaps in there.

@dr_harlequin Light got the death note in 2008 and died January 28 2013, so he had it for about 5 years
