How long have you been a fan of reading comic books? I started reading Spiderman and Flash comics when I was about 8 yrs. old. I'm now 28 so, I've been reading comic books off and on for 20 yrs.

I have actually started reading comics when I was 9 years old, starting with the Archie Comics and then moving on to other Archie related comics such as Sonic the Hedgehog and Sabrina the Animated Series comics.  I didn't really start reading Marvel comics until 2011, so I have been reading comics for 15 years.

I've been reading comics seriously for about three years. I dabbled into reading them a bit earlier, but I don't really count that.

The first actual comicbook I ever bought was Batman 713 in August of last year, but I had been following storylines since 2008 through reviews and wikis

been a fan oh DC and Marvel stuff forerver, but actual comics... 2 years maybe... there's no tradition of comics where I live, no one I knew/know reads them and it's extremely hard to find them since there's hardly any shops around. Taking that and the fact that Im only 18, I'd say it's not bad at all... hopefully I'll keep doing it until Im an oldman

#12 Posted by GillaDro (275 posts) - - Show Bio

@Jorgevy: Not many places sell them where I'm at anymore either, and the ones that do don't have a very big selection. I just recently started reading them again, now I have to order online, to get all the titles i want.

I have always been a fan of comics since I was a little kid, but I really started reading comics about 5 years ago

#14 Posted by Jorgevy (5165 posts) - - Show Bio

@GillaDro: yeah same here, online has been helping me a lot, mainly with DC stuff. There's actually some good Marvel selection, just not much DC

#15 Posted by CrimsonAvenger (1288 posts) - - Show Bio

About four years or so. I had a couple of comics as a kid and loved them but I somehow lost them. I remember I owned a copy of an old Stan lee Fantastic Four comic, a DCAU Batman comic, and another comic I believe but I'm not sure what it was.

#17 Posted by Cosmic_Supreme (30 posts) - - Show Bio

About two years and I haven't stopped since! Cosmic Marvel stuff has been a passion for me!

#18 Posted by Pwok21 (2464 posts) - - Show Bio

I became a serious reader a few months ago, but had a few issues from before then and a few of my Dad's old Thor comics he saved from when he was a kid. The story-lines where he fought Celts and Set.

#19 Posted by Superguy0009e (2404 posts) - - Show Bio

After the first Spiderman movie came out. I didn't read too much first, then I started picking up TPBs, and I officially started monthly titles with Shadowhawk: Resurrection and The Last Phantom.

I read comics when I was 7 or 8, but I went through other phases and distracted me from comic books. ( Star Wars, Halo, YouTube, etc. ) I only got back into comics a year or so ago. I read a couple comics these years but not enough to actually be engaged into them.

#23 Posted by joshmightbe (25858 posts) - - Show Bio

@Glitch_Spawn: I'm 31 and my dad taught me to read with comic books when I was 5 so I've been reading comics for around 26 years

#24 Posted by Glitch_Spawn (17179 posts) - - Show Bio

@joshmightbe:Wow that is longer than I've been alive! I'm 19.

Consistently, or intermittently? Which, ironically, is what I'm doing right now...

Intermittently... I don't know. A very long time (yeah, Star Wars included). Consistently, I suppose six-seven years until last year.

#33 Posted by Hostile (49 posts) - - Show Bio

I read an issue here and there as a kid, read a few Archie/Jughead/Betty and Veronica books and purchased Watchmen and The Dark Knight Returns within the past 3-4 years because I heard they were cool (still haven't read the latter) but I wouldn't say I really started until sometime this year when I bought a dozen or so TPBs and bought a few issues off ComiXology and really decided to read more.

Started sneaking issues of my dad's Eerie collection when I was around 8 or 9 I think. Got into Marvel around 11 through cartoons and action figures mainly. Started collecting Amazing Spider-man around 14 or 15. Made the leap to DC around 18.

I dunno... 2003? So almost 10 years?

#43 Posted by Katie24 (502 posts) - - Show Bio

When I was a kid I would pick up a Superman comic or a Superboy comic at the local drug store every once in awhile, but I got hooked on them about 5 years ago.

i watched batman:TAS and superman:TAS back in 2004 and i convinced my mom to take me to the comic book store. the first comic i read was the "Death of Superman" and ive been reading comics off and on ever since. i stopped in 2009 and 2 years later when i heard DC was coming out with the new 52 i started reading them again

#45 Posted by ButterflyKnowsThings (1 posts) - - Show Bio

I started reading trades in college as a stress reliever, but I seriously got into reading monthly 2 years ago. I only read marvel and image for awhile but since the new 52 i've started picking up some bat family books.

On and off for about 25 years

#49 Posted by Deranged Midget (18229 posts) - - Show Bio

Strictly? Probably early 2000's. I never really collected as a child, just picked up random issues.

#50 Posted by htb106 (1724 posts) - - Show Bio

I've been reading them for about 5-7 years.

Although there was a gap where I went off of comics for about a year and a half.
