how do you change your username

You can't do this anymore. It was available in the past but not now.

You can't change your username, but you are allowed to create a new account & start afresh.  However, as a new member you'd have a posting restricting to just 5 posts for the first couple of days. 
 
If you have a problem creating a new account, then please make a post about it in the Bug Reporting thread.  There you need to provide details of 1, what operating system you're using (ie Mac, Windows 7, XP, etc), which Browser you're using, and exactly what goes wrong.  Alternatively, if you're using Internet Explorer then you might want to change your browser.  I know a lot of people favour Chrome or FireFox, but personally I prefer Safari.

We should be allowed to change our usernames. Why is it now forbidden ? I want to change my username, but i dont want a new account.

How does it work for a Premium member?

So you know who you are dealing with and people wouldn't change it every other day. However it could be nice If you could change it once a year or something like that.

I would like to change my name. Just saying.

I stumbled upon this and I know this is 3 years old and all but I felt like putting my opinion or idea on the matter. Personally I feel restricting it to "premium users" is very cruel (I use cruel very lightly) to a majority of your income coming from us the non-premium users. I love comic vine, the community is great, I get my comic news, and Moderators don't abuse their power. But doing something like that is very lame . Its as if they try to entice us with wanting to change to premium.Overall though that is a very minor complaint because they're is the other side, since a minority of users are premium its easy to keep tab on people who change their usernames and it wouldn't be mass chaos if brought over to non-premium so to speak. My idea on the matter is if they ever brought it back to non-premium users that instead of users simply going to settings to change it. We should PM certain Moderators our new username and they will change it for us, but tell users it won't be instantaneous (due to moderator personal lives and duties around vine) so overtime users will get their names changed (slowly but surely). Spamming moderators though will get you banned or block from that certain moderator, and if spamming continues from certain users then they get banned. Also you have at least a 4 month waiting period to change your name (So choose wisely ;) ), and if moderators who want to do that are at a low abundance heads of vine should just ask a handful of regular users if they would like to.

But that's just my opinion and like I previously stated that's a very minor complaint and won't ever ruin my love for comic vine.
