The Living Tribunal's decree was overturned, so how did Cap do it?
How did Captain America cause the Infinity Gems to shatter?
In theory, the Illuminate was going to use the gems in that half-world where they could see the other Earth. So maybe the gems tore themselves appart when they couldn't figure out if they were in their own universe or not. Why that last gem didn't break along with them, I dunno.
@god_spawn: So did the gems shatter simply because Hickman wanted them to shatter?
Cause hes weak
@tyger: I'm aware they only in work in their native reality....but he did use the gems in his native reality, and the gems worked...so why did the gems shatter from Cap using it and not all the other times the gems were used?
From my understanding that is only true for other realities and not from 616. I think it has to do with their connection to Nemesis..
Cause hes weak
Confused....I am confused
There is no clear answer to why the gems broke. You can say that because two different dimensions were in range of the gems, that it caused the gems to break which is the best theory. But as far as the time gem goes, you can read Avengers 29 and the upcoming issue 30 to find out what happened to the time and to get a better answer to why the gems broke.
@god_spawn: @mr_ingenuity: Not related to this topic but oh well...
How did Thanos lose the power of this Cosmic Cube?
@xxxddd: It was fake.(see Killemall's post 43 for context)
The most powerful force in any universe.
Plot
@mr_ingenuity: Does that mean that the one that Star-Lord later had was also fake?

Not sure of the instance you're referring to.
@xxxddd: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 19 Kang gives it to Star-Lord & had it set for a specific use. There isn't any to suggest it was fake from their dialog.
Magus admits that the cosmic cube would have killed him.
@mr_ingenuity: Last question for you, there was an instance of Red Skull getting hold of a Cosmic Cube from A.I.M., only to have the cube dissolved by a "Catholite Block" by A.I.M. scientists, from Captain America #115–120 (July–Dec. 1969). Is this still canon, and if so, do you have scans for it?
@xxxddd: 2006 bio, last paragraph first page.
I'll post the Captain America scans later.
@mr_ingenuity: Thanks for the help. I've decided to read all of the canon appearances of a Cosmic Cube(or Cubes) in Marvel's entire history and I just needed clarification on a few things.

that is a very solid decision. get ready for some awesome story lines and appearances.
@maccyd: Yeah, I understand that the gems breaking was stupid writing, considering that it was established that the gems are indestructible, and immutable.
@cosmicallyaware1: Cool.
@xxxddd: Yeah, I think he made a few cosmic canon mistakes in his F4 run too, I'm too tired to remember any in particular, though. I think Hickman came up with the Infinity Gauntlet original universe restriction in the first place, so he maybe he has a new idea for some of its mechanics (if this scene is ever explained further in the future).

Are you referring to the fact that the "Council of Reeds" in Hickman's FF run possesses various IG's, but that they only worked in their respective universes? I thought the IG working only in its native reality was established before Hickman's FF run.
@xxxddd: Thanos annual has the IG has multiversal with Thanos sending avatars to alternate timelines. But New Avengers has it as Universal.
Also the scans as promised.
