How come the Punisher movies got such low reviews?

I still think the first Punisher film (2004) was pretty bad ass, especially when considering the Marvel Cinematic Universe being what it was back then. I'll tell you one thing, with the exception of Blade and maybe Spider-Man, Punisher sure as hell topped all the other Marvel films of that time: Man-Thing, Daredevil, Ghost Rider, Elektra, Fantastic Four, those horse-dung X-Mens..

And I own the other Punisher movie, it was pretty good also.

The first one was great, I don't get it either.

I think the expanded version, with the added backstory between him and the FBI agent that betrayed him, made a huge difference.

Other than that, I think mostly people don't want to like it.

All 3 Punisher movies are awesome, the Thomas Jane one actually being my least favorite one honestly. They probably don't get a "main stream" following because they are 80s action movies not made in the 80s.

Main Stream movie goers want "laughs and love" and Punisher will never give you that. My 2 cents at least.

I like the Thomas Jane Punisher film too, but I didn't really care for War Zone.

Because its not a deep thought provoking film, like TDK series! And because its not a family friendly, but also all around great, like Avengers! Because it does not feel like it could happen in the real world, like First Class!

All sarcasm, of course.

Action/revenge flicks never get good reviews.

Because they didnt like the movies.

Punisher '04 was great! The other two were mediocre.
