How accurate is this quote when it comes to comics?

For Marvel? Pretty damn accurate, sadly.

Sadly, it's quite accurate. The JMS run on ASM is still one of my all time favorites, and just the amount of crap that book got sucked into was ridiculous. Civil War, The Other, One More Day with Quesda etc etc.

Pretty much. Someone HAS to stop the madness.

If people dislike events, suck it up and don't buy the issues the event is taking place in. Don't buy the event itself. If enough people were to do this, the big two would see that events only alienate their audience who spends their money elsewhere. The ONLY way it will ever change is if enough people speak with their wallet. That is the bottom line, after all.

I don't think all the Marvel events were bad. A vs. X (to me anyway) was not as bad as people say and World War Hulk was pretty well done (though probably because Hulk didn't go through a 180 degree turn like Iron Man during Civil War). Axis seems like it'll be pretty good.
