So, I'm one of those who don't really see Aquaman as more than the pop-jokes make him out to be & I'd like to (at least try to) change that. I've never gone into Aquaman's solo-runs so where is a good place to start, what's the best origin story & where do I go from there?
Hit me with some Aquaman
@dwightspitz: New52 run isn't a bad place to start.
@mr_clockwork91: So far I really don't enjoy any New 52 at all... how is it compared to the other N52?
His New 52 run is his best.
You could try the Peter David run in the 90's, but chances are you aren't going to like it based on your current opinions.
I wouldn't really recommend the 2003 run either, since the writing is pretty bad. But its pretty cool if you wana see him do hax things with his water hand.
If you're just looking for some cool stories instead of the whole runs. Try The Triton Saga from the 90's - which is less campy. Try American Tidal from the 2000's, one of the very few stories that good in that run
Morrison's JLA also treats Aquaman very well. And during Our Worlds at War Aquaman is a badass mofo.
Blackest Night is also a good Aquaman story (in fact, the only good part of the series, frankly)
@dwightspitz: New 52 Aquaman is easily one of the better books.
@fallschirmjager: Thank you! I only know of him in detail from his Justice League appearances so I'm looking for more solo-centered stories. I'm gonna check out the Triton Saga you mentioned, thanks again.
@dwightspitz: His new 52 run is amazing. I haven't read anything else from the new 52, pretty new to comics myself. Im mainly going for Vertigo stories atm.
Mark Waid's JLA year one is my favorite version of Arthur. You should read that, not only for Arthur, but because they're amazing comics.

I think you mean Brightest Day, although Black Lantern Aquaman was pretty cool too.
@smashbrawler: Oh. Woops. Yes, I meant Brightest Day lol
That is just...wow. Gorgeous stuff.
I think I shall read up on Aquaman.
read Throne of Atlantis and new 52 Aquaman. Aquaman became is my second favorite character due to the new 52 version of him
@koshi_waza88: What issue is that Fish and Chips scene from? New 52?
@greatcaesarsghost: believe its new 52 Aquaman 1#
Thanks, I'll check it out. Looks interesting.

Have you read Transmetropolitan?
@dagmar_merrill: No, but I hear marvelous things about it. That will probably be after my run through with Preacher, currently I'm reading Scalped and Coffin Hill.

I read This seires in two days. Didn't sleep a wink. No regrets
@thecheesestabber: Sounds like a good time. lol
@mr_clockwork91: I didn't really like Coffin Hill but Scalped is really, really good. My top three vertigo series are Sandman, Fables, and Transmet.
@thecheesestabber: Sounds like a good time. lol
ArseFace has been seared into my eyelids .
when I blink I experience true horror
@dagmar_merrill: I have not touched a single issue of Fables, it's been going on for awhile. I figure I'll wait and buy some omnibus of it.
@thecheesestabber: Sounds like you need therapy, or a bubble bath.
@mr_clockwork91: Yeah, its like 21 volumes as a whole. 19 are out and the twentieth comes out next month. The 21st with finish it, still though its really good. The character devolpment is amazing.
@dagmar_merrill: What about its spin off, Fairies is it?
@mr_clockwork91: Fairest, Jack of fables, and the Cinderella minis aren't nessecary reading.
@dagmar_merrill: I'll probably end up picking them anyways.
@mr_clockwork91: Bubble Bath with a Therapist?
@thecheesestabber: Best. Idea. Ever. I mean if the therapist is hot.
thats it ?....
no i'm serious ... then why does the site keep flooding with him against superman and wonderwomen.
can someone name any high end feats ....
i'm asking cos people on battle say he can move MFTL under water and with is staff is skyfather level or something
Arthur's not really on Superman and WW's level but he went 2 on 1 on them back in TOA (definitely not on Skyfather level)
Also his (most likely) greatest New 52 feat was when he stopped the same continent busting attack that sunk Atlantis from The Dead King.
(Don't have the scans though)

@thecheesestabber: Oh, I was thinking more along the lines of Patrick Stewart....

YES!
Patrick Stewart needs to play Aquaman and every other character in JL and Avengers!
This thread got hilarious, haha.
@koshi_waza88: That scene with the fish and chips just cemented me getting into Aquaman, pronto. Good on DC for facing his detractors head on with dialogue like that. Thanks for sharing.
