In 1996: he did a proto-hellsing story. He was way too identical to D.

Hellsing ripoff the nazi from Hellboy. Hellboy did the nazi thing first. Not mention Hellsing organization is way similar to BPRD.
Both Alucard & Hellsing fought the nazi, just like Hellboy did.

Why would he put Nazi's in a vampire book.Not to mention all 3 series are under Dark Horse.
Hellsing is a ripoff. Is it a bad series? No its not.Both are excellent series.Vampire Hunter d and Hellsing are the only two series get vampires right. They are both legacies of Bram Stolker's Dracula.
P.S. Vampire Hunter D originated in Japan.
