Poll: GREEN ARROW or HAWKEYE? (Comic Book Question of the Week) (425 votes)

Fraction/Aja's HAWKEYE! 43%
Lemire/Sorrentino's GREEN ARROW! 35%
I'm not reading either. 11%
I can't pick! They're both superb! 12%

Welcome to the latest "Comic Book Question of the Week!" The Big Two are both publishing excellent books for their main archers, but which do you prefer and why?

Not reading ether but from what I've heard is that hawk eye is better

#52 Posted by Cavemold (1678 posts) - - Show Bio

Hawkeye has the better dialogue and GA has WAY too much of it

#53 Posted by Mutie199 (135 posts) - - Show Bio

Fraction's Hawkeye is one of my favorite character in comics and thats a thing i never thought i was going to say so that says a lot of how awesome he is!

#54 Posted by Supreme_Maj (278 posts) - - Show Bio

@vortex13: you are right but it's not because we don't see hawkeye trains himself that it doesn't do so, most of the time hawkeye doesn't have a solo serie he's always with a team and we can see him sometimes train with captain america in avengers books and when he was in the west coast avengers they used to show him train if i remember well and besides Green Arrow has got a lot of book dedicated to him so for sure the writers will show us how he's training especially since he had so many sidekicks. What I like about Clint is because is a regular guy with our kind of problems is because of that he went on to be a criminal first before he chance he's way this could have been any of us he find his salvation through archery not like DC like to show most of their characters are rich and can afford anything and they are super smart and powerful.

They're both fantastic, and nothing really between them in quality. In saying that Hawkeye as a series has been brilliant since the start, whereas Green Arrow's just been good since Lemire took over, but to be honest I can't decide either way.

#56 Posted by Parsifal24 (12 posts) - - Show Bio

I'd go with Hawkeye

#57 Edited by akbogert (3213 posts) - - Show Bio

I have not even really had a desire to read Green Arrow (though his brief bits in Injustice have piqued my interest a little). I wouldn't have bothered to read any Hawkeye either but everyone flips out about how great it is and the first issue was free. So I read it. And now I want to buy all of it. Any book that sells me on the very first issue is probably a safe bet to call superior.

#58 Posted by M3th (2075 posts) - - Show Bio

What is the difference between the two archers anyways?

#59 Posted by manwithoutshame (654 posts) - - Show Bio

I've read both and Hawkeye is better no question. However, when Shado starts making appearances I'll probably lean toward Green Arrow.

#60 Posted by tg1982 (2715 posts) - - Show Bio

Do to lack of money I don't read either, but I hear Hawkeye is a great read, so I may have to find a way to be able to afford this book.

Green Arrow

#63 Posted by JamesKM716 (1992 posts) - - Show Bio

Green Arrow is superior IMO

but Hawkeye is almost definitely gonna win this one.

#64 Edited by Extremis (3344 posts) - - Show Bio

Green Arrow.

Hawkeye is fun and all but it's mostly light hearted fun. I prefer grittier meatier stories. Also im sick of the "bro" stuff by now. But over at DC, Lemire has something epic brewing in GA and I love it! Not to mention Ollie is just such a tenacious badass.

#65 Posted by Mr. Messy Face (121 posts) - - Show Bio

I like Green Arrow more as a character but I'm currently not reading either book.

#66 Posted by krexxxx4 (62 posts) - - Show Bio

Honestly I don't get what's so great about Lemire's Green Arrow... It was hyped so much that I think I set the bar too high for it. I think the character is great, but right now Fraction and Aja are killing it on Hawkeye.

@doordoor123:

see I always thought of Marvel as Starwars and DC as Star Trek. I read them both, but Green Arrow started out really really shitty. It has gotten better but no where as good as Hawkeye. Hawkeye is so fresh in it's own way right now. Purple Noir.

#68 Edited by JamDamage (1114 posts) - - Show Bio

Purpe noir

#69 Posted by MadeinBangladesh (6553 posts) - - Show Bio

I picked I CAN"T PICK.

#70 Posted by Jnr6Lil (7693 posts) - - Show Bio

Green Arrow the character to me is better. Wise-cracking, comical yet serious, has a political conscience, and willing to do the job.

#71 Edited by Extremis (3344 posts) - - Show Bio

@krexxxx4: are you serious!? What are you not liking about it? Lemire instantly took this title from bad to one of DC's best in a mere few issues. Talk about title revival.

Green arrow he's a boss! I do like his older version much better though.

Hawkeye grew on me a lot.

#75 Posted by Jake Fury (18315 posts) - - Show Bio

Green Arrow for me. Read the first trade of Hawkeye and comparing it to GA so far I'll take Ollie.

#76 Posted by Fenderxx (388 posts) - - Show Bio

Hawkeye ... but man lately Green arrow has been catching up man.

#77 Posted by Mrfuzzynutz (1023 posts) - - Show Bio

I went with Hawkeye, because he has had a stronger run the Arrow. Take the last story arc with Komodo out of the picture and his book has been a mess.

#78 Edited by GreenArrowFan (3 posts) - - Show Bio

Hawkeye is my favorite current Marvel series, but Lemire/Sorrentino are also crushing it on Green Arrow every month. Ollie is my favorite character so I give GA the nod.

@k4tzm4n: So which title do you like better?

It's possible I voted for Green Arrow.

It's also possible that's due to me being head over heels in love with Sorrentino's art.

@k4tzm4n: Sorrentino is all that and a bag of chips. His art is one of the reasons I loved I Vampire.

Is Green Arrow good? I haven't bothered with his comic but Ive been interested.

Ive recently started reading Hawkeye and I like how its not about him as an Avenger but about the trouble he gets into in his daily life. Bro its pretty good, Bro.

It's phenomenal, and easily my favorite book of the New 52. Lemire delivers intense action while weaving an intriguing mystery. And Andrea Sorrentino's art is so good. He has some pretty creative panel layouts, and his art is just beautiful. The coloring is also a big highlight.

Listen to this, people. This book is only getting better and better. That's not to say Fraction's Hawkeye is bad, it's freakin' great as well, it's just that Green Arrow is shaping up to be one of the best runs on the character ever. Hopefully Lemire keeps it up, because he's quickly becoming one of my favorite writers of all time (which may sound like an exaggeration but I have read plenty of stuff from him).

Both are a lot more similar than one would think, but I like Hawkeye's charm more.

#87 Posted by Almighty1Azel (22 posts) - - Show Bio

Reading both titles, love both titles, but im voting for hawkguy aka Hawkeye bro... fraction/aja's run has been phenomenal since issue 1. Thats 10 issues to lemires 4 greenarrow issues...

#88 Posted by DonFelipe (1096 posts) - - Show Bio

Right now, they're both great comics with exciting stories and amazing art work! Hawkeye may have the edge because of the unique setup and atmosphere, as well as mostly ignoring all that superhero and superpowers stuff.

Hawkeye was a boring character until Fraction made him funny. GA in the New52 was unbearable until Lemire took over. Lemire's first arc The Kill Machine was brilliant and I can't wait for more (there's still so many unanswered questions that need answers @Magus)... from both comics.

#89 Posted by spidermanandsuperman (283 posts) - - Show Bio

Have to go with arrow

#90 Posted by Deranged Midget (17599 posts) - - Show Bio

Fraction's Hawkeye with ease.

I'm not picking up either monthly at the moment, but Jeff Lemire is far more a superior writer in my opinion than Fraction. I'm biased when I say that of course.

#92 Posted by ssejllenrad (12847 posts) - - Show Bio

Lemire's Green Arrow is better than Fraction's Hawkeye but Early New 52 Green Arrow by Krul was sh*t. Sh*t in a bad way. Just my opinion. But the Komodo arc... Wow!

#93 Posted by Spartnqbrn (28 posts) - - Show Bio

They're both really great books and Green Arrow is so much better now that they made the creative change to Lemire/Sorrentino. I understand the obvious reason to compare these two books, but beyond that they have very little in common.

#94 Posted by Logoda1 (1 posts) - - Show Bio

I didn't really like Hawkeye before reading Matts take, but he is one of my favorite Characters now lol

#95 Posted by JamDamage (1114 posts) - - Show Bio

Hawkeye is by far the better book. It's been called one of the best Marvel books since it started with the whole Marvel Now launch. It's fresh, it's original, it's well written, it's well illustrated, it's well...................purple. It's one of Fractions best books since he left Iron Man, and he left Iron Man right before he started writing Hawkeye. Green Arrow might have the surprise favorite charater on Injustice Gods Amongst Us Video game, but Hawkeye has the better comic book. It's gonna get a lot of vote for best title this year just like last year, and the good thing is it's been going strong since it started. Green Arrow crept back from cancellation death and was handed to a new writer and has been great, but it hasn't been Hawkeye. "Right Bro??"

#96 Posted by JamDamage (1114 posts) - - Show Bio

"Hawkeye Bro is the better book bro."

#97 Edited by Needlebay (1935 posts) - - Show Bio

GA by a hair.

#98 Posted by RustyRoy (11857 posts) - - Show Bio

Voted Hawkeye.

#99 Posted by RustyRoy (11857 posts) - - Show Bio

Traditionally a DC guy, but now i'm a hawkguy. His book is superior to just about everything being published right now and that's a fact.

This is exactly my thoughts.

Kinda like both... GA
