In either movies/tv shows, comics, or books. Who's betrayal hit the hardest? Caught you off guard and basically changed everything?
Greatest Betrayal?
For me it would have to be Darth Sidious. It suprised me slightly that he was evil when I was younger but it brought a new era. That and Anakin actually siding with him was crazy.
Iron Man betraying the fellow heroes by siding with the government during the Civil War.
I was thinking of that as well. It's definitely up there.

It's not just Iron Man, it's also Hank Pym, Reed Richards, Carol Danvers, Spider-Man and Jennifer Walters etc.
When Red-Mist betrayed me.
How did you not see that coming? It was horribly obvious.

Anakin was an idiot, and so were the Jedi so that was easy as hell.
There is no greater betrayal.

Um... Judas? I mean his name is synonyms with betrayal.
Saint Peter betrayed Jesus three times, though. Huehuehue.

Yea and he still got sainted, poor Judas got his ass hung.

To be fair he did that himself but he did get paid.

It surprised you? Even when I was 5, I was like "oh sh*t that's the Emperor!" because in the original trilogy he was only ever referred to as "Emperor Palpatine" (The name Darth Sidious was introduced in Phantom Menace), and then he's introduced as "Senator Palpatine" in the Phantom Menace. Plus it was the same actor from the original trilogy, and I have a knack for that stuff. But then again, I watched that original trilogy boxset of 1995 VHS tapes hundreds of times before I could even walk. I swear my parents were trying to indoctrinate me into becoming a Jedi or something.
@jaken7: I saw all the movies out of order. By the time the third one came out, I didn't even remember most from the sequels besides Vader.
