Also would be interesting to hear why you've chosen what you have :)

Animal man run because it was a great story. It told an interesting story about an uninteresting character. Buddy Baker aka animal man has a family to look out for unlike most superheroes, this lead to a lot of unique stories. The run also brought themes of animal rights into the light and made you think. It's what gave Morrison his fame and its one of my all time favourite comic runs.

Would be surprising if someone voted for FC, The Filth or Seven Soldiers.

@Billy Batson: i've never spoken to anyone who liked seven soldiers or final crisis... but some people seem to LOVE the filth...

I've never read any of those 3, never read flex mentallo either.

My top five for his works on this list would be:

  1. Batman & Robin
  2. Batman RIP
  3. Final Crisis
  4. Doom Patrol
  5. Batman & Son/Black Glove

@NewKid:

I've seen a few but they're just kidding with themselves, especially with Final Crisis.

You shouldn't bother. They're pretty dense and convoluted. The Filth and Seven Soldiers are one of the things that I've stopped reading it and tend to finish what I read.

I'm that guy. I loved all of those, but I agree that they would be odd choices for "favorite." Morrison has written so many comics of such a high quality that it would be peculiar for Final Crisis, the Filth, or Seven Soldiers to rise above the rest. I do love them, though.

@Billy Batson: yeah, i don't really intend to... he's a great writer... sometimes. so hit and miss.

his Batman and robin run. It was awesome its my favorite run ever. Batman R.I.P. was kinda confusing i had to read it three times to actually understand it but when i did figure it out it wa pretty awesome. All-Star superman is my favorite superman story and i recommend it to everyone even people who dont like superman, it will make you like him.

Would have to say his Animal Man run.

His JLA for me. That moment where Batman let the White Martians know that he knew their "secret" was probably my favorite Batman moment ever.

It's certainly All-Star Superman for me, however I admit I may be a tad biased.

Kill Your Boyfriend. It's a personal favorite even though Morrison's since done a lot better stuff.

@AtPhantom:

You're the third person that I've encountered who's liked Seven Soldiers. What exactly did you like about it? :/
BB

#29 Posted by AtPhantom (14521 posts) - - Show Bio

@Billy Batson: I think I was drawn to the interconnectivity of it all, and how different stories complement and add to each other. It is also an incredibly complex work and you can read a lot into it. I've read it something like five times, and each time I find some new little detail, some new thread that I never noticed before which gives me a new perspective on it.

Plus, being inspired by Irish mythology and then meshed with that of the New Gods and the wider DCU was definitely a plus.

But I can see why some people would be left unimpressed by it, and really, I'm not claiming that is his best work, it probably isn't by a long shot. It's just a personal favorite.

wow... wasn't expecting FC to get any votes!

If seven soldiers and the filth get votes... well that's one of the first signs of the apocalypse, right?

Well, he's done alot of cool stuff, but I'm going to have to go with Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth. It was the first things I read by Grant and one of the first Graphic Novels I read period. It's gotta be in my top five Batstories of all time and top 10 graphic novels of all time. I loved the art, the pseudo-metaphysical nature of the story, and all the Alice in wonderland references. It was just wonderful.

This.

I triple the nomination.

U - Doom Patrol...why? Because it was quirky and so offbeat that I felt the spirit of the stories finally echoed the spirit of the team. The writing was pretty unique for what I've read in the comics medium before...and it was the first time that I knew Grant Morrison's name.

#40 Posted by GuruOfFunk (442 posts) - - Show Bio

I really like his Animal Man but the art was just ok and ended up distracting me, but that had nothing to do with him. However, i agree that his Doom Patrol is his best.

#41 Posted by TDK_1997 (14896 posts) - - Show Bio

His Batman run.

#42 Posted by spidermonkey2099 (615 posts) - - Show Bio
  1. All-Star Superman
  2. New X-Men
  3. Batman and Son, The Black Glove, and RIP (I'm combining them because it seems more like three parts to one big story more than anything else. I haven't had the chance to read anything else in his Batman run yet, aside from a few issues of Batman Incorporated that I picked up before I read the previously mentioned stories)
  4. JLA: American Dreams
  5. JLA: Rock of Ages

I would have just said his entire JLA run, but I had trouble coming up with a fifth one. I've read his Arkham Asylum graphic novel, and it is pretty good, but I like it more for the art than the story.

#43 Posted by Pokeysteve (8301 posts) - - Show Bio

His JLA run was superb. Everything else I've read of his I didn't like.

#44 Posted by aquaman98 (54 posts) - - Show Bio

1. Final Crisis

2. All-Star Superman

3. JLA

4. Animal Man

5. Batman

#45 Posted by RustyRoy (12718 posts) - - Show Bio

His Batman stuff including Arkham Asylum, followed by his JLA run.

#46 Edited by Skit (2534 posts) - - Show Bio

Animal Man is probably my favorite, though Invisibles and Doom Patrol are very close. For best I would say it's either his Batman stuff or All-Star Superman.

Edit: What's with all the hate for Final Crisis and Seven Soldiers.
