Geoff Johns is a very good writer. He has rarely written a " bad" story . However he has never written a genre changing " classic" either.

Morrison is the best writer in comics ever bar only Moore, and had written several truly great iconic stories introducing some truly amazing ideas in comics

Johns is among the very best writers in comics today but he is just out of his league here

I like both, but Morrison is easily the better writer. Not many can really top Morrison.

Voted Geoff just because you put "FTW" in Grant's option.

But Grant IS the better writer and my favorite of the two. Love both though.

To be honest except Moore, Millar and Ellis, I can't think of any writer in the same tier as Morrison....Maybe Waid but his recent stuff isn't as good and except his DD all his other current titles are meh.

Gotta go with Morrison as the better writer on this one to me. Geoff is good, but I personally prefer Grant.

I prefer Johns, maybe he's not as technically good but I prefer his style. I'm not a big fan of a fair amount of higher-tier characters yet have enjoyed his Green Lantern and Flash stuff.

Johns is more of a conventional writer, so he doesn't rock the boat as much as Morrison. He's the kind of writer that needs to work long-term on a character to make an impact. Johns has also had some duds since the new52 started (his JL run in particular)

Morrison has a much more whimsical and deep creative mind. He's a writer who can pull the weirdest stuff out of his mind and make it work and make it make sense in the universe in which he is writing.

I voted for Johns for consistency. Granted(no pun intended), Morrison at his peak dwarfs Johns but, he shows his worst far more frequently than Johns. In a baseball comparison, Morrison is like a great power hitter a la Josh Hamilton who strikes out frequently but bombs about 40-50 HRs a year...whereas Johns is a much more consistent hitter who doesn't strike out much but also doesn't hit many Hrs like Ichiro.

I vote Johns because I loved what he did with Green Lantern. My favorite Lantern run to date that I've read.

Grant Morrison is a better writer, from a literary standpoint, but I prefer Johns personally.

Voted for Johns because of the work he did with my favorite villain team (The Rogues) during his Flash run.

Just a matter of personal opinion here.

Johns is a great writer, and he's done amazing things for DC, but Grant is a legend. Definitely in the top 5 or even 3 greatest CB writers of all time.

Good point. Personally I love nearly everything Johns has touched, and he's written amazing stories but there hasn't been anything with as high a status or impact on comics as what Morrison has written, for example All-Star Superman, and Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on a Serious Earth.

Morrison is the more skilled writer, but Johns' stories are easier for me to follow.

@squalleon: I've been trying to get people to read his Stormwatch. So, if you haven't read it before I think it's one of the best team books ever. definitely up there with (imo better than) Morrison's JLA.

Well, he pretty much defined that era with Stormwatch and The Authority in terms of team books :P I tend to prefer Morrison's JLA solely for the characters although I won't argue which book is better since The Authority probably is.

@username12345: That's one of the few problems I have with Johns, he's not very good at writing Batman. But, for me, I don't think he needs to be, there have been plenty of Batman stories which I've enjoyed but not so many, for instance, Green Lantern ones so when a writer can make me like those kind of higher-tier characters then there onto something.

@thedandyman: IDK. To me, it seems like Snyders run is an apology letter to Bat fans. Like him fighting The JL seems like he is compensating for Johns despicable behavior.

@username12345: I only read the first volume of Justice League and, while Bruce wasn't depicted amazingly, I found it...copable. As long as the guy stays away from any major Batman stories, I'm ok. I don't need anymore entertaining Batman writers, I need more entertaining high-tier writers. Plus, I always found Grant a bit too weird sometimes, this page still confuses me a bit:
