Fear Itself, an underexplored premise?

Hi all, I just got back into comics and I have been really enjoying some of the new story arcs. I decided to brush up on the more recent events though so I picked up Fear Itself amongst several others. Now, I know there is quite a bit of hate for Fear Itself, and while I understand it, I actually think the premise was pretty awesome. However, instead of focusing more on the psychological implications of fear incarnate entering the world, Marvel simplified it into a slamfest of major heroes. I go into further detail about how I think Fear Itself should have gone on my blog here: http://casualdisagreement.com/2012/05/15/how-to-fix-fear-itself/ but I wanted to hear your thoughts. Is The premise of Fear Itself deeper than Marvel's exploration?

I really liked the Fear Itself (all up to the obvious death of thor which then led into the resurrection of thor blah). thought it was a cool concept and enjoyed many of the offshoots.

It wasn't bad, I liked it. At least some of it. Marvel events always bug me, I mean, I usually like a lot of stuff about them but there's always some details that may not be even that big that ruin them for me
