I think the number 1 place is going to be pretty easy to guess, more interested in #2

Shueisha. Lots of traditional stuff there.
Kodansha have a few big names, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Sailor Moon.
Makes a poll to see who gets second place
Ends up with three Joint second places (-_-)

Final Bump
lol, Shueisha's vote just keeps going up.
I nearly voted for Kodansha myself, but Battle Angel Alita and Death Note just tipped the scales for me.
Went with the predictable because of the Jump stuff. Shogakukan would have been my number 2 for the Rumiko Takahashi mangas. She's in my top-5 mangaka of all time.

My first Manga's were Rumiko Takahashi, started with Ranma 1/2 in a local library and moved onto Lum.
I really like all of the top three companies actually, its a shame Shueisha is monopolising the vote, but then I voted for them too sooo....
Hakusensha also made Dominion: Tank Police if anyone remembers that (I had it on VHS back in the day).
I would edit the pictures in the OP but it keeps giving me an error message.
Shueisha in a stomp. But Kodansha is realll close. Btw They need to finish Beserk damnit.
Kodansha
I don't know why anybody would vote for Shueisha, they treat their mangaka like dirt and do their best to ruin originality.
They're all classics. They do treat the creators like shit but that doesn't ruin the quality of those mangas in any significant degree.
@darthaznable: Quality is very debatable. But I'll confess they have some of most iconic and we'll known manga.
Shueisha is a very clear winner. However, Kodansha comes in second, with parasyte, fairy tail, and ghost in the shell.
Man it is tough to pick between shueisha and Kodansha....on one hand Shueisha has Dragon Ball, Fist of the North Star, JoJo, Death note, Gintama and then some, but on the other hand Kodansha has GTO, Ghost in the Shell, Mushishi, Akira and Sailor Moon....have to go wih Shueisha for the pure quantity.

I agree that they're the laziest in regards to originality, but they still have some real standouts here and there too.
I did think there would be a little more voting diversity though, given how often I've heard people complaining about dumb/goofy heroes.

Considering they've forced creators(kubo and togashi notably) to change their stories to be as shoneny as possible, that's debatable. I love YYH, but the last arc(three kings) was definitley butchered and series clearly was clearly changed. It's the reason Hunter x Hunter is in the state that it is. They have literally no quality standards seeing as they allow togashi to put entire chapters out in this state for the online version.
@silent_bomber: See above, I just elaborated more.

Oh I agree, but that doesn't stop me liking Death Note and Battle Angel Alita :)
The ending to YuYu Hakusho was especially sad. So, so disappointing. At least Hunter X Hunter's story carries on and its artwork is improved for collected editions, but yeah, releasing that stuff in that makeshift form at all is kind of shameful.
@skit: From what I remember reading, doesn't Togashi get forced to push out obscene amounts of chapters per week or something like that? The dude has taken so many hiatuses it's not even funny. I thought what he did with HxH was his own doing. Their completed mangas are no doubt quality though, at least the ones I've read. Dragon Ball in particular stayed pretty consistent throughout its entire length. Even though I didn't really like the Buu Arc.

YuYu Hakusho should've had 10 more volumes, Naruto should've had 10 fewer volumes :D
Dragon Ball probably would've been better had it ended with Cell IMO

IIRC it was supposed to end after Frieza. I hate Gohan so it not ending at Cell made me happy.
Shogakukan or Kodansha, as I am not 12.

I didn't realize style was for children.

From what I've heard he planned to end it in quite a few different places (inc some before the Saiyan arc), but kept changing his mind.

Hey, it's only 3/4 shonen!

Aka the majority.
Not that there was much of a tonal swift when it changed.

I've got nothing against most of the works themselves by any means and love a few, I just have a problem with the company and know some of the works could have been better.

Not completely. He certainly worked pretty consistently at 175 chapters to the 190 possible weeks for YYH. This isn't really all the impossible as he did no other projects on the side and when you consider others like Go Nagai have put out 6 entirely different mangas out in a single week, but that's in no way the standard as only 6 have ever done that. The reason everything went to hell is, he was forced to turn it into a shonen instead of the supernatural mystery series like it is for the first arc. It started off by making him add more action and lasers(because dragon ball). Then it go to the point where he would have to redo entire chapters without any extra time to do it and shaped arcs(the dark tournament) Finally as with the 3 kings arc, they basically decided to ignore him completely and gave him no freedom, basically writing the plot themselves or refusing anything that wasn't dbz enough(hence the power levels and what not coming out of nowhere).
As for hiatuses, well let's just say he's currently in the guinness book of world records...
He does kind of have control over HxH since they have no standards and it sells quite well with no cost or risk on their part. They even let him and his wife publish a book they made for their son under Kodansha. He's just burnt out with them at this point . Not to mention he suffers from back issues(the current hiatus is because of surgery) and being incredibly lazy. Why he doesn't hire an artist when he's clearly doing pretty well for himself(3 of the top 100 best selling manga between him and his wife with YYH and HxH being top 50) and art is a big deal for him.The dude who made/makes Saint Seiya can't even write out his name, but he's still putting out stuff more consistently. The only reason I could think of is sometimes his art is clearly head and shoulders above at least 90% of manga like these
But they come so rarely

Doesn't the average Mangaka do like 100+ hours a week though? sure I've heard that somewhere.
Go Nagai may just be an incredibly fast artist, some artists just have a looser style.
EDIT: I thought about it for a while, working hours would be wholly dependent on the particular artist. One of my old friends could definitely do 4 pages a day during normal-ish working hours, meetings with editors and such included. If he had to do 1 or 2 colour pages (as you occasionally see) then no, but black and white would be doable.
I would probably have trouble doing 2 pages a day though. Sometimes when a drawing was giving me difficulties in College I would be stuck redoing it over and over for frikkin hours (add stress on top of that and it would be worse).
