After the original trend started by universal in the 30s gave way to the si-fi atomic bug era of the 50s HAMMER FILM PRODUCTIONS, revitalized the gothic horror scene in the very late 50s and thrived thru the late 60s and then sadly died out and went out of business by 75.
The Company was the star makers of Christopher Lee & Peter Cushing.
The Company took characters such as frankenstein and took them in different directions than universal did, while universals was stuck in a endless cycle of following the monster being killed, reawoken and killed again the hammer films followed the exploits and varied experiments of victor frankenstein (cushing) himself. allowing for far greater range in character development and story possibilities.
The company recently began anew and returns to there roots in gothic horror with Let me In (2008) & The Woman in Black (2012)
what is your favorite Hammer Film horror or otherwise?
