Can he alter physical bodies? Like turning an angel into, say, salt?

I don't even know, my brain still hurts whenever I think of Evangelion's many endings..why can't it just keep it simple and have mechs fighting aliens? Don't give me all this convoluted religious/philosophical nonsense.

Actually they said the show isn't supposed to be religious, they wanted it to be different and there isn't a large amount of Christianity in Japan, so they used it to be mysterious. They didn't know the show would come to Europe and America. But there's the original Anime ending, then EoE is an alternate ending, then you have the Rebuild continuity. xP

Does the whole "It is now like unto a god" or sometimes I hear it's a substitute for God or something, actually take place? Is he supposed to be as powerful as Christianity God?
