Episode 2 of Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles is Live!

Earlier in the week, we got to see the first episode of Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles, which featured a vampire Batman fighting Harley Quinn. On top of that, we also talked to Bruce Timm about his work on the series and upcoming July 28 release of the animated feature. Now, Machinima has released episode two and this time, we get to see Superman, who is actually the son of Zod.

Finished it. And liked it. Very depressing ending but it is expected. This is the son of Zod after all.

You know..... This is actually turning out better than I thought. I mean.... Really, much as I like Man of Steel? At least THIS gives more weight to the act. An uncontrollable being, in pain, alone and confused and unable to stop, it's a very... Poignant thing. Also the fact it wasn't his FIRST instinct to do it and tried to talk him down. Was it right? Wrong? Up to personal opinion.

Honestly..... This entire scenario was handled a LOT better than in Man of Steel in my honest opinion.

This entire series is starting to feel... I'm getting Wildstorm vibes from this series.

The little Brainiac kid got me right in the feels, excellent voice acting. Still wish Superman was Kal-El in this else world.

@squalleon: That's weird, I had the MoS reaction. I know he didn't enjoy it, but that's an innocent kid.

He is the son of Zod. Not Kal-El. Different upbringing. He is Superman in name only that's why I didn't care. He didn't have the guidance of Jor-El or the Kents.

I'd like to have seen what kind of Presidential campaign Amanda Waller ran.

The more I see the more I want it.

@smart_dork_dude: While I'll agree that Timm did it better--who are we kidding, Timm is a much better story teller than Snyder--you can't honestly say that Superman didn't plead with Zod and try to talk to him first. Zod just wasn't having it.

@squalleon: I didn't have a problem with it, since we got the heavy breath at the end showing his remorse, but, still... =D

He also didn't care for the civies. But again I didn't care either. He isn't Superman after all and if he is, he is only by name.

Now this was about 100x better than "Twisted" because it bothered to actually build context and empathy rather than deadpan presentation.

@superguy1591: I'm talking about the situation surrounding it. Clark could have flown him up and then done the deed, but they painted THAT as there was no other way to save that family when... Yeah he COULD have. Not that he SHOULDN'T have done it in that instance, as all other possibly means of stopping Zod where gone, but more or less the fact that with the scenario seen in this short millions, possibly the entire world was about to get wrecked.

Would the traditional CLASSIC Superman have done it to this Brainaic? No, he would have tried his best to get him to calm down and focus, BUT as it stands this isn't Clark Kent from Kansas which is the point. He's the son of General Zod, he's got the same powers and the same DESIRE to do good.... But he's also clearly not the nicest guy.

A short just to show the world of the movie.

@squalleon: Also the fact the entire point of these shorts leading up to the movie is to show that... This ISN'T the Trinity we know. This isn't Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne, or Princess Diana. Obviously we aren't gonna feel the same way about them doing stuff out of character for Superman, Batman, or Wonder Woman, but so far these shorts are portraying that while SIMILAR in how the world views them.

Batman is still a feared figure of the night, Superman is the world's strongest hero and as such the government is wary of him, and we've still gotta see what the Wonder Woman is gonna be like.

@squalleon: We interpreted that scene differently--I just thought he had to get to Brainiac before he ran out of time. Anyway, I saw the Batman one and I didn't like it. I can't believe I watched a series created by Bruce Timm where his Superman is better written than his Batman. =D

@smart_dork_dude: Pointless retread, but Zod made it clear that he was going to kill everyone on Earth because Superman took away "his people."

This was really good. I'm gonna go watch the Batman one now but I'm seriously amazed at how good this was. That was five minutes. Man, we need a new Justice League series now. Timm's still got it. I suppose he was able to handle this Superman better since he's not Kal-El. Still, I was not ready for that ending.

The only problem is the stupid youtube comments. "Already better than the MOS Superman". Sigh, the internet is annoying.

Sure, he isn't a hero, he didn't save a busload of people (well.... he kind of did). He killed Brainiac, but he tried to make him stop, and didn't slaughter him or broke his neck. And that reaction afterward says it all

After the Batman short I was worried that I wouldn't enjoy this series (and movie), but this was great. Hope the Wonder Woman short retains this quality.
