Actually DC already does something like this, they have that DC Essentials thing where you can buy the first issue of an important issue series for 99 cents.

Makes it a lot easier for someone new to get into comics when he can just grab a few issues for like 5$ and get pretty much everything essential of what's been going on at Marvel for the last 10-15 years.

even though these are just the #1st issues I'm hoping they'll extend the offer to include all books in these series.

If you're going to get more than 9 of these, might as well just get a Marvel U subscription for a month. I think I've read all of these already on there.

@lmothander: That's all marvel really seems to be pushing with these! I bet everyone one of these books will have an ad along the lines of "to read the rest of the series subcribe now". How else are you going to actually be able to "get into" these series after one book. No way they are going to release the whole series for a dollar an issue.

Are Marvel's comicbook sales really that bad that they have to resort to publicity stunts and price drops to get subscribers? I guess that's what happens when a comicbook company becomes more famous for its movies than its comicbooks.

I don't think the main impetus for this is new readers (I mean, beyond the fact that they're always trying to get new readers). They said already they're doing this for Secret Wars. Every single one of these titles is a title that's already got a Battleworld section devoted to it. These are all primers to get people up to speed and hyped for May's event.

@sasquatch888: that would be unbelievably awesome! I would love to have a full run of infinity gauntlet and marvel zombies for only a buck an issue. But I'm not holding my breath haha still going to pick most of these up though.
