I want ADAM, and I want him NOA!!
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Set for DC Comics' Film
What has me concerned is Warner Bros wants to make SHAZAM a family blockbuster which just tells me that Shazam might turn out to be a campy cinematic flop. As for the Rock, he doesn't play the villain too often so I think Black Adam would be his better choice.
Black Adam
Can't wait to see him in Fast and Furious 7.
Those movies have gotten so bad. 5 was laughably over the top, and 6 took itself painfully serious, Letty's "death" and amnesia was terrible, like her car would have incinerated her body in 4. They harpoon a plane on an atleast 15 mile long runway. And Vin Diesel shrugs off a plane crash and its explosion and just walks away, that's some Peter Griffin durability right there.

I loved 5 and 6 personally.

HOW? They are what made the series a big joke. The first and second movies are grounded and nothing ever done is too unbelievable, well other then the dukes of hazzard jump at the end of 2. Tokyo Drift was awesome, yet pretty grounded as well. 4 is when it started getting crazy, but not too much. It had Brian drive his car a little over the top but it was still cool, and the undermountain tunnels was actually a good story line. I loved how it ended with Dom going to jail to turn her life around, but then it ruined it by breaking him out again. The 5th? No point, it turned into Oceans 11, It was just the whole gang all together at once even if it made no sense, and what was the big thing? robbing a bank by literally dragging a vault around town, then switching this giant vault in under 10 seconds, it was awesome, but so hilarious at the same time. The 6th, wasn't even enjoyable. They tried actually making a serious action movie and it failed miserably imho.
This is all my opinions though. So whatever.
He will be perfect as Black Adam. Since he's a fan of Black Adam, I'm pretty sure he will do a great job as him..
I'd LOVE to see him as Black Adam - but I'm just glad he'll be playing one of the two characters.
Gosh I love the Rock.
@saint_wildcard: and he can do that, because he is the Rock.
While he "look" more like black adam, business wise they can make him play Shazam. The Rock is a huge name, why waste on a villain that will have limited appearances or even be killed off, when you can have a super hero who you can build a franchise around and have him interact with other big name characters like Batman and Superman in the JL. Having a big name like Rocky play Shazam may turn Shazam into a big household name. See RDJ and Iron Man..

Well duh, I can only say this from the safety of my house.
Neither please.
If he wants to be set forever, he would pick shazam. If he wants to be in one or maybe 2 more dc movies, black adam. Smart choice is to franchise shazam
@inferiorego: Hercules actually brought in 30 million opening weekend. Not a flop by any estimation. Not a huge success, but more solid than I had anticipated. Haven't seen the movie yet myself. Wouldn't pay to see it on the big screen.
He'd make an awesome Black Adam. He was a pretty badass bad guy in Doom. On a side note, with the amount of confirmed and possible cameos in Batman v Superman, its gotta make you wonder how big the Justice League film will be.
...Seriously? you want to use Doom as an example? the Rock is a bad actor and he's been in some bad films, but Doom takes the cake.
Black Adam? Hope it's Black Adam....
but yeah I would be fine with him being Shazam too, he has the perfect charisma and humor for a role like that
Charisma? the man has no acting talent, and you want to say he has charisma? also he's not very funny, sure he's willing to play roles in which he humiliates himself, but that's not true humor.

So instead of a good actor doing the character justice you'd rather have a big name that's not an actor? That would turn Captain Marvel into a house hold name in the worst possible way.

That might be true with some of his movies like Race to Witch Mountain or Tooth Fairy but I think and he has improved greatly as an actor but I did really like him in some of his action movies like Fast and Furious and GI Joe.
I really do think that he has a friendly and eccentric personality that is good for family oriented movies and the type of movies in which younger kids might like, which I think would work with a character like Shazam who is strong and powerful but still retains a child-like and innocent attitude at times which I think he could really pull off. This is just my opinion, I can understand if you don't think he fits the role.
I would rather like him as Black Adam though, that would be very cool.
@jphu8414: I didn't bother seeing Fast and Furious, but in G.I. Joe he played himself, and every line he delivered sounded like a catchphrase. Captain Marvel is not just some family friendly character, he is also an interesting and deep character study, and Mr. Johnson has no talent as an actor (seriously, I don't understand why people let him continue to act). He can't emote, deliver lines, and he can never become another person. I have no issues with him personally, I'm sure he's a nice man and decent person, but he is not an actor, and although Black Adam would be better because he would have less screen time, it would still suck.
