dragon ball z vs dragon ball z kai

Im planning on buying some seasons on blu ray but I don't know the differences between Dragonball z and Kai. Can you please explain the differences? And which do you prefer?

@emp3rord4v1d: Well Z on tv was better cause it was uncensored. Kai on TV was very kid friendly but the animation, and voice acting was so much better. If your buying the DVD's and it's uncensored get Kai, if it's still kiddy kiddy get Z.

IIRC, for Kai they went & re-recorded the voices (changing some actors (though not always for the better IMO)) and remastered the animation for HD. They also cut out all of the large filler events that weren't in the manga (like Goku falling off of Snake Way) - so it's shorter in terms of total episodes.

The only thing that kept Kai alive is it kept Goku's voice.

They changed the voices and music, and that was a BIG no no.

What I just didn't understand was the graphics between the theme song and the show are crazy different.
