Apparently, Kevin Feige has Marvel films planned up until 2028. Given this info, do you think the MCU needs the FF and X-Men in its film slate to move forward? Or do you think the MCU has more than enough characters?

Most definitely not. They could keep making Thor and Captain America movies and be fine, while dabbling in Dr. Strange, Cap. Marvel and GOTG. They could also continue with the Inhumans if it does well enough.

I am fine with Fox keeping the X-Men, but Fantastic Four needs to go back to Marvel to expand their cosmic universe. It just feels wrong to go into Infinity Wars without Silver Surfer.

Do they have Venom, or is that still belonging to Sony? Seems to me, if I were Sony, I'd keep Venom more to myself for the moment.

No I don't think so, they have multiple mini-universes to expand within the MCU.

Avengers

  • Hercules
  • Monica Rambeu
  • Namor
  • Wonder Man
  • She-Hulk
  • Captain Britain
  • White Tiger
  • Black Knight
  • Spider-Woman

Cosmic

  • Nova
  • Mantis
  • Moon Dragon
  • Eros
  • Mar-Vel

Thunderbolts

  • Rulk
  • Songbird
  • Fixer
  • Mach V
  • Atlas

Midnight Sons/Marvel Knights

  • Blade
  • Ghost Rider
  • Moon Knight
  • Punisher
  • Man Thing

Spider-Man

  • Venom
  • Spider-Gwen
  • Black Cat
  • Kaine
  • Any Secondary Spider-Man hero-Prowler, Cardiac, Silk etc

New Warriors

  • Rage
  • Night Thrasher
  • Slapstick
  • Speedball
  • Microbe
  • Namora

Young Avengers

  • Hulkling - Maybe, dunno how his rights would work
  • Patriot
  • Kate Bishop
  • Wiccan
  • Speed
  • Stature

Initiative characters

  • Prodigy
  • Hardball
  • Cloud9
  • Gravity
  • Komodo
  • Butterball
  • Bengal
  • MVP
  • Scarlet Spiders

I've missed heaps, but they aren't short on marketable characters/franchises.

Let's be honest here: the X-Men are some of Marvel's most popular characters. The MCU would be made better by their inclusion.

I don't know if they "need" the X-Men, but it certainly wouldn't be unwelcome, and it would give them more to work with (like the Shi'ar).

@wrglfan2814: Agreed, this is coming from someone whom is a way bigger fan of the X-Men than anything else Marvel puts out in terms of comics.

keep in mind as well:

the X-Men and FF respectively have a wealth of stories to be told. Think of it this way.....they have been around in comic form since when? that's right......the 1960's. Barring crazy plot changes for movies and alterations................that's triple the Lord of The Rings Trilogy easily without scratching the surface.

So to answer the question: does the MCU need the FF and X-Men?

I say : not necessarily, but IT SHOULD. Done properly.

and take that from someone that has been reading comics for 30 plus years and has been dying to see these movies made for a very long time.....

@wrglfan2814: I agree. X-Men works much better as a film series in its own separate universe, considering that in the Fox universe, mutants are the prevalent superhuman force on Earth and the X-Men is its premier superhero team. Interweaving the Avengers and the X-Men would only cause the two to become convoluted. As for the Fantastic Four...yeah, it can go either way, but the FF would fit right in with the Avengers. Still, the FF aren't ideal to the MCU.

Marvel needs to save the X-men films from Bryan Singer, with the numerous amount of retcons going on. Plus they continue to introduce new character who didn't receive a single line in the films. I think Marvel has better usage of characters and plots, Fox should give up X-men for sure.

@emperorxhadesx420: nope. Namor is his own property. He also happens to be owned by Universal along with Hulk so they can't use him.

Not really...

There are a bunch of other cosmic characters they can use and the Inhumans can take the place of the mutants...

They don't need them yet. But they want them.

X-Men can stay with Fox, but Fantastic Four can return to Marvel. They could easily fit in the MCU and Marvel would have another great team with great stories.

No marvel don't need them. X-Men have so many characters that it would be too hard to add them into the mcu but the fantastic four might work if the new movies fail. Personally x men need to stay at fox, fantastic four I could careless

They certain don't need them. Disney/MARVEL Studios are doing just without those properties. Would be cool if they collaborated and struck a deal with FOX much like they did with SONY with being able to use Spider-Man.

of course they do. The FF are basically Marvel's Superman. They started it all ... they ARE the heart and soul of Marvel Comics. and Marvel would ruin the Xmen if they had em. Probably playing second fiddle to RDJ's Bulls hit.

F4 could go I don't care. But X-Men needs to stay, I don't want wise cracking jokes every scene. And now that I think about it, do I really want Dr. Doom back at Marvel.

I'd rather X-Men stay away from Disney.

I don't have much stake in F4 but Marvel could certainly use Silver Surfer, Galactus and the Skrulls.

It would be nice if Doom can be the main villain in an Avengers film as well as a Fantastic Four film. Like Loki.

F4 would be more useful for naturally expanding the universe, especially cosmic. X-men would just feel like "tacking on", especially since they can just use Inhumans instead.
