Is thwip owned by Marvel? Same with SNIKT! or Bamf!
Since there arn't many webslinging metal clawed teleporters over in DC, I was curious if anyone knew did Marvel actually own/trademark these words as their own?
Any help greatly appreciated

@the_stegman: but it is made up like Coke or Facebook? thanks
@powerherc: thanks
@batkevin74: Doubt they own it but I don't think it would be wise for DC to use them.
@wavemotioncannon: Not sure, hence my question
Not the most reliable source but according to wiki...
Marvel Comics' characters have several specialized sound effects that are under Marvel's copyright: Spider-Man's web deploys with a "thwip", Wolverine's claws emerge with a "snikt", and Nightcrawler teleports with a "bamf".
EDIT: It was from this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comics_vocabulary

Cool! That's a big help, thank you
@batkevin74: No worries, once you asked I became a little curious myself! Interesting stuff, glad to help :)
@bumpyboo: I looked but didn't actually know where to look. I type bamf into google and just got Nightcrawler pics & bios. Helps me forumlate a trivia question or two
@batkevin74: Hehe, same here, it was a tricky little beggar to find, had to do a bit of crafty digging :)
I think the Wiki's wrong. They have SNIKT (and "super heroes" and the letters "U" and "A"), but not THWIP or BAMF: http://cobyscomics.blogspot.com/2014/01/silly-trademarks.html

Oooh cool, thank you for the update! I stand corrected :)
