He's often given Batman advice that he would have been lost without. He also isn't afraid of slapping him around when it's needed. Literally.

Of course he does. Not just for tactical support but because he is essentially Bruce's father and serves as Bruce's emotional support/guide.

How about an Elseworlds tale where Alfred is killed by the joker or someone else and batmans slow descent into madness? Kind of like Injustice: Gods Among Us.

@zackisme: I think that would be interesting. I always viewed Alfred as that one thing that keeps Bruce on the right path no matter how many tragedies he endures (Jason dying, Damian dying, etc.). So I think seeing what Bruce could be like if he lost Alfred would be a good read.

I may be the only one who feels this way but I feel Alfred is more genuinely beloved by the fans than even Bruce himself.

then who the hell keeps Wayne manor clean and tidy, who takes care of the washing, the medical supplies, the food, the guests, the personal services.
