There is a comic store in a basement near my house. The comics are in great condition except that they have a faint hint of a mold smell?

I'd imagine it would. I bought some comics on EBay that had a horrible smoke smell. I'd say it lowers the value.

Smell isn't included in the grading criteria (that I've seen), but especially if it's something like mold that signals deeper problems, it will probably lower the value.

@bloodwulf: I think all old comics have a kind of smell to them. So, i do not think it really do anything to the value.
