Do you think, that Harry Potter movies surpass SW trilogy?

Yes or Not? Without any novels involved. TPM, AOTC, and ROTS vs Harry Potter?

Really depends on your genre preference.

A lot of the Potter films are better than TPM and AotC in terms of quality and enjoyment IMO, but ROTS is up there with the best of them.

Star Wars is more Iconic world wide.. that's not even a matter of opinion.

The HP movies were for the most part well done imo but there is only so much Ron, Harry and Hermione you can take once you are an adult. Having said that, there is only so much Hayden Christensen whining you can take too. The main thing that tilts it to the prequels is rots and the fact there are so many HP movies.

Harry Potter-- Characters are better, story is better, casting is better..

Star Wars-- Let me think...

Star Wars has just done more in culture than Harry Potter.

I didn't say HP was ahead but it is close in popularity. HP had also had successful games, clothes etc, while SW is ahead in toys and cartoons(because there hasn't been any HP cartoon and I doubt anyone would prefer broomsticks overs lightsabers), HP is ahead in movies and books.

The only thing that HP really had over SW is books. Everything else except for one is either Star Wars or arguable.

SW being more Iconic helps its popularity because respecting the culture is usually passed down.

I think you don't know the difference between close and ahead. Let's say A, B and C are 3 persons who got A, A- and C grades in all subjects, then A is definitely ahead of B and C but the difference between A and B are small and A and C are huge. Also Cars has sold more Toys in 5 years than Star Wars did in 10 years, doesn't make it more popular than SW. Video games isn't by miles but yeah SW is still ahead, movies HP is currently the highest grossing film franchise, HP doesn't have a cartoon and will probably never have, also popularity isn't equal to profitability, there's too many factors between them (i.e even if the movie A and movie has the same number of viewers and fans, movie A's fans might not want to buy movie A's toys). SW is ahead but it's pretty close.

I'm talking about everything put together though. So books and movie go to the HP francise (which Star Wars is not far behind in the least bit). The biggest factor to HP popularity has to do with timing as well. That factor would be the Internet.

Cultural impact advantage as a whole goes to Star Wars. Internet impact advantage goes to Harry Potter. Each one is ahead by a lot in their advantage because of timing.

Star Wars is better, because the Hero of the Story does a lot, Harry just kinda tools around while his friends die, does something, then goes back to tooling around.

The prequel trilogy, definitely. The original trilogy, I dunno. I would need to rewatch all the Harry Potter movies and the original SW trilogy before making that judgement.

Harry Potter movies were way more entertaining and had better build up and pay off than both the original and the prequel trilogies.

You are mainly talking about profitability here, the time factors also affects HP, SW got 25 years head start so the overall franchise has more revenue than HP. Agree with the cultural impact though.

geez, Harry Potter movies are just awful. i hate them so much. the acting is really poor, the stories are fine but not great. The only thing that Harry Potter creators did well was CGI and special effects. and that is not enough to make me like a movie.

the new SW trilogy is not great. Although RotS is my second favourite SW movie so far ( the first being RotJ . The story in these movies was good, it alligned well with the original Trilogy... I liked to see how all these things i love from the original trilogy ( lighstaber fights, use of the force ) was shown with the use of new technology ( yeah, btw the special effects are maybe better than in HP ).

Overally the 3 SW trilogy are just better movies. And seriously, it's not even a matter of taste or liking a genre...

in both of these series there's movies that i really dislake or even hate. Attack of the Clones, The 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, Harry Potter movies. "Goblet of Fire" is the only movie from the Harry Potter franchise that i can watch...

Well the first 4 Harry Potter films are worse than all the star wars films and the last 3 are better IMO. Prefer Star Wars characters so going to go with a very close Star Wars wins.

Since you listed the prequel trilogy then definitely yes. They were horribly bad, the vast majority of movies are better than them in my opinion. Original trilogy, definitely not.

Hard to say....I grew up with Harry Potter in both films and books. I also really like Star Wars. I guess, if it's just the new trilogy, Harry Potter takes it all day. Star Wars as a whole, especially with battlefront 2, the original films, costumes, pop culture status and more, may overtake Harry......maybe......Lets wait till the Harry Potter cartoon/live action series starts
