How far back are you willing to go? What do you particularly like to reread and why?
Do you read or reread old comics?
I try to stay in the post 2000's, I can do earlier but only if the stories are good and it doesn't look like the comics were colored with crayons. I don't reread comics at least not yet because I have so much new stuff to read.
I'm quite willing to go back as far as they go. So far, the oldest comic I've read(in a TPB) was from January 1962.
I'm quite into the original Avengers series. I haven't read all of it yet, but I get TPBs or single issues whenever I can. They're often really good, and older comics have quite a different feel to them than modern ones. Plus, reading older issues is a great way to understand characters you know from modern issues.
Probably in the late 80's to 90's is where I would normally go back to unless I wanted to read something specific.
My favored time for comics is the late 90s to early 2000s. Books like Kingdom Come, Morrison's JLA, and the early Ultimate Universe.
That being said, I'm willing to go as far back as the 60s - the classic Lee-Ditko Spider-Man and Lee-Kirby FF runs are both superb, even when collected in Essential format. Anything before that is too old for me, I can't really enjoy stuff like Golden Age comics, save for some exceptions like E.C. Comics.
I reread all of my comics, regardless of the time period they're from.
Of course. Especially since some of the best comic stories were written in the 70s and 80s.
I also like some of the Golden Age stories of the 30s and 40s.
I'm not as fond of the 60s or the 90s, but I read those comics too. In fact, I just reviewed X-Men #5 this morning.
yeah all the time....I'm just starting Green Lantern volume 1 right now and as soon as I started that I had a craving for some JSA so I'm going to reread Johns' JSA run after I'm done with that
I reread a lot of my stuff. I pay a good price for my comics (trades and monthlies both), so it seems a shame to only enjoy the story and art once. I'll often go back and just look through some panels again and realy take my time to take in all the details of the art that I miss the first time through. Also, when reading monthlies I'll often reread story arcs once they finish. Helps me retain it better, plus I can enjoy stuff even more the second time :)
But yeah if I really like something I never really put it down, so to speak, as it's nit in my hands it's often in my mind. An example being GL Rebirth. I often go back and open that trade up. There's so much detail and work Ethan Van Sciver put in those pages. That trade is a work of ART. Not to mention Johns' wonderful storytelling.
I accidentally bought this old comic it came out in 1986, but it was listed on comixology saying it came out in 2012... So I thought it was new, ugh. Is this comic good?
The Shadow: Blood & Judgement (Dynamite comics)
I enjoy reading old trades. Not a fan of re-reading old singles.
@ccraft: Yes Howard Chaykin's Shadow is supposed to be very good.
@longbowhunter: Thanks, it was just the art that kinda made me hesitant at first, but glad to hear it suppose to be good

Yes I often do go back and read old series. Sometimes I go as far back as the 80's, but I often read 90's and early 2000's.
I'm usally around the 2000s comics. I'll usally re-read anything that can make me feel better on a bad day. When you know u had a really bad day and u can just go back read a comic leave the real world for just a few mins and read something that can just mke ur day reading some inspiering.

I've been working my way through Jack Kirby's Fourth World. Gotten through two volumes so far. I also started Morrison's Animal Man run. If I'm interesting enough, I'll go back and read it.
I have read older comic books from my library. The first was Green Arrow. I also like to reread the comic books I have gotten from my LCS.
The oldest comics I would read through is from the 70s, so I definitely would go back and re read older comics.
I love reading 80s X-Men. The 90s were their peak in popularity, but the previous decade had the best stories.
Oldest stuff I read are from reprinted pre-Comics Code Authority comics from EC Comics. So between 1940s-1950s. Not a fan of most 60s-70s comics, though. But I enjoy stuff from the 80s and some of the 90s (let's face it: the 90s weren't that great). So basically, I don't like comics that were printed when the CCA was at its strongest.
I'm all about the art. I like golden age art more than silver or bronze age art. I do not like the late 90s when everything was so bubbly.
I love rereading older comics. I'm not a fan of most things that came out of the 90's, but some stories are iconic and amazing from that era. On average I stay pretty modern, but every now and again I'll read a golden oldie for the fun of it. Sometimes you cant beat those stories.
Of course!
I re-read old comics, re-watch old-films. re-watch reruns of my favourite shows, re-read favourite books, re-listen favourite music.
It's natural.
