DC so far. Marvel has, for the first time, shown DC's level of story telling and craftsmanship with Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Iron Man 1 showed hints of this too, but Joss Whedon and Feige redirected the Marvel U to be more kid friendly and popcorn flick-y, with the later films.

DC Movies:

  1. Man of Steel
  2. Dark Knight Rises
  3. Dark Knight
  4. Batman Begins

Marvel Movies:

  1. The Winter Soldier
  2. Iron Man
  3. Avengers

Winter Soldier is about as good as Begins, imo.

I think DC's movies are better, despite that it takes them ages to make them. Partially this is because DC make theirs with a straight face, which ofc leaves them lacking in humor, but on the other hand, jokes get boring when you've heard them 2-3 times (unless you are drunk). (Note that the Joker from DKR isn't actually funny (which I felt was a mistake)... because all his jokes are followed by someone's death.)

Rises was the more "spiritual" movie. It said a lot more about Batman's character, it was more concerned with the emotional response than Dark Knight. I wouldnt argue with anyone who said Dark Knight had less plotholes or inconsistencies, but was it as entertaining? Was it as meaningful? Id say no. Also, Bane in the movie is superior to the Joker in the Dark Knight, and like most non-Batman fans, I think Batman's enemy is what makes the movie.

The whole "Rise" theme really did it for me. It was Batman stripped down to being a mere mortal, even a weak mortal, and then rising and truly becoming something more, a symbol of hope (ironically for the Supes haters) and resistance. When i go without watching it for a while, I always say, "The only flaw is that Batman should die," then I watch it again and im like, "For the emotional value of the ending scenes alone, that ending is perfect."

Quality over quantity.

DC may have a much less developed cinematic Universe, but overall, their movies have shown to be better to me. Most of Marvel movies with a few exceptions (Avengers, WS, Iron Man) are average to good movies, but nothing else.

Outside of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, DC hasn't done anything live action-wise that has impressed me.

Marvel on the other hand...

I assume we're talking just about Marvel Cinematic Universe films vs DC films? The MCU has more movies total and probably a higher rate of success with films. However, The Dark Knight and Man of Steel are in my top 5 favorite comic book movies and I think they are just tad better than the best MCU movies.

@flameboy298: Marvel has a good thing going for them but I think with DC movies that are created by film companies like syncopy, legendary pictures, and DC entertainment are gonna be killing ( in a good way) in a couple of years.

DC fans just be patient! There have been many rumored movies planned (I even hard some Deathstroke movie rumors) and I'm sure a slew of them will announced after the Man of Steel sequel gets announced.

Ill always take quality over quantity. And if Marvel is any indication, just shoveling out films to build up for the next crossover film really hurts the quality. I do hope DC speeds up a little, but not at the expense of their currently superior quality.

In terms of success thought the MCU movies rofl stomps, even Iron Man 3 made money on the levels of The Dark Knight and Rises. DC does win big on the small screen though, and I'm not just talking about Arrow or Smallville...

DC. Their films are more well rounded. The Dark Knight trilogy, Watchmen, Man of Steel, not just action flicks, but actually good movies imo.

Marvel movies for me. Way I see it, they don't feel afraid of going all-out comic book.
