Poll: Do you have a comic book shop in your area? (53 votes)

Yes 70%
No 28%
Don't Care 2%

Was just wondering if CV people have an accessible comic book shop in their area. I have one in my college town and I'm really happy that I do, although I realize that some people probably aren't as lucky as me. Or maybe you just don't care because you get your comic books on the internet or something

Got one right downtown. I actually drive over the state line and buy my books in Indiana though. Several shops in the town over.

Same Problem but in Februari I'm going to England for a week with school and go to Liverpool and some cities so I'll find some comic book shops

#12 Posted by Jphu8414 (4041 posts) - - Show Bio

Unfortunately in this day and age, getting comics ordered over the internet (or illegally downloaded) is easy and comic book shops are becoming more less popular

Still always prefer the feeling of going to one though

Sorry about people outside of the U.S. I know it is slightly harder to get comics. Glad you're still with us :)

The comic book shop in my area moved farther away, but it's still pretty much accessable.

I have one a half mile away and go there once a week to pick up my books. They actually had their replica Flintstone car get stolen from there a few weeks back. Sucks.

@battle_forum_junkie: It's not nearly as glamourous as you think. It's a lot of work and we host different card game tournaments, which brings in the weird Magic the Gathering players.

@the_stegman: I play MtG :( But you're right, a large percent of the guys who play where I go can be pretty weird. And not in a good way.

I have one within like 30-50 minutes depending on traffic. They have Magic games every Friday and so I will just go on Friday and play a game or two of Magic usually.

I use to have one a block away...but then I recently moved.

I didn't mean to generalize lol, Yu Gi Oh and Warhammer players are just as...intense.

Yup the one in Hollywood is the nearest of the shops here but parking is hard to find for that one and the other ones are a little harder to get to since I don't have a car yet so I rely on the digital comics.

That's pretty much my situation, except I'm about 30 minutes away from Hollywood. I haven't found many near me, and the ones that are I buy from only a few times.

#33 Posted by GrenadeFlow (1988 posts) - - Show Bio

I have to use the bus to go there :(

#34 Edited by HumanRocket (10719 posts) - - Show Bio

@retconcrisis: there's one in East Los Angeles haven't been to that one and also Lecacy in Glendale I like that one but to get there in the bus takes too long. There's another one that's kinda hidden in Burbank it's nice but downtown LA NEEDS a near by shop.

#35 Edited by gunmetalgrey (1305 posts) - - Show Bio

I've got several within a 15-30 minute ride by car or by rail. Some of them are just different branches of the same shop and two of the malls nearby have at least two different competing shops in them, the employees of each shop are mostly friendly with each other though.

#36 Posted by laidblack (1307 posts) - - Show Bio

Nope

Mine is an hour or so away :/

There's a nice one near me when I'm at home, but the one that's near my school only carries a few trades and refuses to set up a pull box for individual issues.
