After watching Steve Rogers work out, i started wondering if he even needed to? could he get stronger? can he atrophy if he sits on his ass for a while?
what about other heroes?
Spiderman
Superman
Bruce Banner
Venom hosts
Thor
Spider-man has some weird metabolism that keeps his body in peak condition all the time regardless of what he does. It was stated a while back. I'll try and find the scan.
Superman
Yes, this has happened in alternate timelines (Subject One)
Bruce Banner
If you mean The Hulk then no since his muscle mass comes from extradimensional sources although Bruce is already scrawny.

ah so a kryptonian that exerts himself even more than supes can potientially be stronger at base?
and if banner were really fit would that effect hulk at all?
Yes, and Supes actually works out.
Bruce and Hulk are just mentally just different parts of the same mind but no, It shouldn't affect Hulk at all
Spiderman- No but he has trained in kung fu if that counts for anything.
Superman- Yes as of New 52.
Bruce Banner- Nope
Venom hosts- He trained himself to peak human or so to hunt down symbiotes. I'm not sure when, might have been before or after the cancer.
Thor- He meads.
Cap works out regularly. Which may explain why he is stronger then just peak
would the serum keep him peak if he didnt?
@yodaprime: Not entirely sure. He can't get sick or drunk so it's possible. Eddie Brock worked out before he became Venom, but I'm guessing he doesn't need it. Hulk..no

He just works out to keep himself where he his and to hon his skill. And really just to pass the time. I wouldn't say he's much stronger than when he got the serum.

o.o i figured as much
Superman

He looked frail cause he never saw the sun, not only cause he didnt work out.
When Jen works out it makes She-Hulk stronger an baseline. Why would Hulk be any different.
Superman's abilities come from the sun so a work out wouldn't make sense.
Cap is still basically human so heavy consistent lifting (and eating) should increase his mass.
@pokeysteve: Because she's She-Hulk all the time. Hulk's main gig is to get stronger from anger.
True, but my point was only to prove his muscles could atrophy.
Because Jen used to be in a constant hulked-out state. Which means she trains her hulked-out state rather than her non-hulk body.
And the OP most likely meant to ask that if Bruce trained himself to become a peak human would his Hulk form be stronger? Which the answer would be no.

NO he doesn't, he works out due to habit, the SSS sustains him though.
Spidermans muscles are too strong to atrophy in his lifetime. he could probably become a little stronger but not by too much.
Supermans power depends on solar energy so lifting will actually make him weaker. no as long as he has access to the radiation of a yellow star his muscles will be just fine.
Hulks muscles wouldn't. his healing factor will keep in in reasonable condition. would be even better if he was angry.
I doubt it, the host is only as strong as the symbiote will allow them to be
thor could probably get stronger and his muscles can probably atrophy it would just take thousands of years

Thanks yea i was confused there.. i was thinking if Steve Rogers was Hulk then hulk would be a lot tougher
@potato: wasn't that to test his limits? not make him stronger. I don't think working out could help supes much since the majority of his strength doesn't come from his muscles. if anything exerting himself would make him weaker
@hyperlight: I don't really know honestly, I just came across those scans somewhere.
And all I said anyways Superman works out and that his muscles could atrophy.
Human and meta-human people should lift regularly. Superhuman people like Superman and Hulk don't need to lift. However, Superman was benching the weight of the world like a boss for no apparent reason.
I was thinking about this just yesterday. Interesting topic. Depends on the character though I guess. Peter Parker never works out as far as I can see. He just woke up with muscles one day. Same happened to Cap so I don't know if he even needs to lift either. Plus it's comics so it's possible nobody even knows how it works - it just does.
Anyone else think the benching the world feat is stupid and over doing it? I mean I'm more of a that's amazing Spider-Man just lifted a car( struggling) to stop rhino. Anyone else in that category or is using the Empire State Building as a weapon more your ridiculous style?

No I wish I was spiderman....

I swear I've read a story where she was regular Jen and said she started working out and its affected She-Hulk's strength. I know I'm not crazy I think probably.

Spider-Man has lifted tanks which are 30-50tons in the past. The Superstrength category is very wide that's why they have the 2-100ton+ range.
@pokeysteve Well I'm not super knowledgeable of her so many she did that later on.
