Even though we know they'll eventually be back, does it still have an impact on their lives and their friends life when they return? So why, or why not do superhero deaths matter?
Do superhero deaths even matter anymore?
Nope.
Rule #1 of comics.
The only people who stay dead are Batman's parents and Uncle Ben.

No. It has an impact for a few months when they come back but in a year everything will be back to normal and it will rarely be mentioned again.
No. It's more like "Ehhh <Insert character here> will be gone for a few months...That kinda sucks, I guess."
Nope.

The funny thing is, a decade or so ago Jason Todd was always put on that list.

Nah, I saw that one coming.
I didn't expect the whole Red Hood thing, but I still predicted him coming back.

Well, if you make it 1999, then it was less likely. :P
Heh. Apparently everyone thinks it's great for people like Jason to come back. After reviewing the overall consensus on my "was Jason Todd's revival necessary?" thread, I was left with an empty feeling.
Uncle Ben.
@matthewparker: I think that Elektra was REALLY killed by Bullseye unless they have changed it.

Lol, this ^
Yep, superhero deaths mean nothing, except those that are part of an origin. Shame. A true character death can be the subject of a powerful story.

15ish years broski. The problem is that characters die and go back to the status quo without it even mattering. Jason was arguably the best "new" villain of the New millenium for DC.
