Do Street Characters get the short end of the stick?

I'm not talking about Iron Man, or Batman, or Spider-man or any of those who have suits, high grade technology, powers etc that help them in fights and all that. What I am talking about, are street characters who have no powers, who aren't perfect at everything, who rely on what they can get their hands on(what normal people can get), who don't have reinforced suits or whatever to help them.

Actual NORMAL street characters...so I ask everyone, do they get the short end in comic series and all that because they are just normal?

Yeah. People like Moon Knight get screwed over.

Yes. Personally I like them better. However, the point of Comics is to read about uber powerful beings and whatnot. Or at least someone with a power or two that still isn't too powerful (street levelers i.e. Spider-Man.) So, they do, but there is sort of a reason for it.

@YoungJustice:  Well looking at Knight, he does have armor which enables him to support weight he can't normally and also supposedly as superhuman strength. As said, street characters with no suits that help them or powers.

Punisher, Jason Todd. They've fought well against Super powered individuals so while they have it rough, its their choices to continue.

I'm not sure what you're getting at in the OP. There is no such thing as a "normal" street character. Nick Fury doesn't have any powers. He doesn't have any real regular equipment but most times he's prepared for whatever situation aries. Who are you actually talking about? Characters like Maria Hill? S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents? What is a "normal" street character. If having tech or power excludes you then characters that are street level that have gotten screwed over like Silver Sable,Echo,Arana etc. don't count.

@Guardiandevil83:  Punisher is ok...but Jason no, he has technology that exceeds to what a normal person could actually have. This is about normal street characters, who don't have access to high grades of technology and all that to help them out.

@jobiwankenobi:  True comics are..sucks though some great characters out there to use, and would actually be attainable to become(though probably wouldn't last long) Vigilante is a good example of such.

@Vance Astro:  Should have elaborated, high grade technology i'll fix that.

@Wolfrazer: Yeah, I know you're a JLU fan as am I. Vigilante was awesome in the series, but I believe his actual comics were pretty terrible. Jonah Hex I believe was really the only character that became popular from DC's western comics. Hence, why he eventually starred in the actual Superhero universe.

The Punisher was using tech at one point. He had Rampage making weapons for him.

Yes,I just think that comic book writers feel that they can do more with non-super powered characters.

@Guardiandevil83:  Kinda...ok think more like Vigilante, hes human doesn't have any powers, and doesn't rely on high grade technology. Yet he has twin revolvers, a master marksmen, peak human, and experience in hand to hand.

Well Green Hornet comes to mind. Due too childhood fondness I'll include Zorro, Phantom, and Lone Ranger to the list of possible people who qualify, They do have it rough. If you are someone who fights against things men should not trifle with you are expected to have it rough. It's more realistic that this person wouldn't get many victories if their underfunded, have no allegiances save to themselves , and have no extraordinary abilities, Yes they would fall more often then concur. But thats the reason their awesome. Ka'zar also springs to mind. Can you imagine dealing with Raptors and Rex's all day? Then dealing with the mutates, and whatever Sauron has going on that week. And he just dosen't get the shine.

@Wolfrazer: nope. they can get their fair share whenever a writer wishes. best example is Punisher in Punisher kills Marvel Universe. also, I am sure you read Watchmen so I have nothing to add there for non super powered characters.

@Guardiandevil83:  Thats what makes those characters and the stories more interesting though(I think), they actually have a chance to fail and they only rely on what they themselves are capable of. They can't rely on super powers, or advanced technology just what they have on them.

That's kind of a weird question.

Yes street characters find it hard, but only because we find it hard, you have to think that street characters are us, and what would we do in that situation?

Street characters fight evil that is on their evil, maybe a bit above their level to make it a challenge but still their level

Superman saves the world, Batman save Gotham, its the same threat and still gets our hearts, but its on different levels. You cant have Batman saving the whole world because that's impossible, he's human, but a city is apt.

I think we feel more for street characters because they're street as well, grimy horrible streets that we're on, with thugs and knives and drugs and guns, all the things we know and fear, that's probably why it gets to us so much because it's real.

I'm not saying aliens aren't scary but the grittyness of it gets to us more and feel they get the short end of the stick.

I mean look at The Boys, they have sticks and chains and brute strength and theyre against supes, yeah they have compound V but it just makes them a bit stronger, they dont have x-ray or flying abilites, hell The Female in the Boys pulls peoples faces off with her nails!

Also Tulip in Preacher, no ablities, just a girl, but shes got a good shot and anger, lots of anger, and short hair. She has it rough, I was so sometimes but she kicked ass, she wasnt savin the world, just her friends and cause it's her friends, close people, i think of my friends and think 'man could i do that for them?' because its all realistic...kinda...good enough
