Do humans in the Marvel/DC Universe have free will?

If, say, TOAA were to go to your average Marvel human, can he control him into doing something?

Same for the Presence in DC.

Are humans nothing but play things for the comic book gods, or are they granted the power to think for themselves?

I guess Philosophy plays a huge part in that.Cosmic or abstract beings created the universe and the characters,the characters themselves have the power to think for themselves.I mean Dr.Strange once stood up to the living tribunal.
