I hears a few people complain that they thought Ultron was being funny and took away from him being menacing but as I literally just seen the film. I am asking do you think he was menacing ?
Did you think Ultron was funny ?
Threats should be taken seriously but jokes and one liners are all over. So nope I dont think he was menacing. It was a fun movie, kids will enjoy it. I think it was meant to be that way because this guy below approves it.
He was amusing, but not how I imagine Ultron should be. He came across as less menacing, and more evil Tony Stark, which I guess makes a bit of sense, considering he is his creator, but at the same time didnt make alot of sense because it isnt like Tony programmed him that way. He had his intimidating moments, but on the whole was a rather unthreatening villain. It was cool that he could inhabit a ton of bodies, but those bodies were just fodder, and even his main body was pwned quite often by the Avengers. In fact thinking back on it, I dont think I ever really felt the Avengers were in any danger facing Ultron Prime. That is affected by his one liners. He should have been more like EMH Ultron.
Sometimes. I kinda felt sorry for him.
It was weird.... ultron came off as having issues
He wanted to commit global genocide, having issues is kind of a must.
I personally didn't laugh at anything he said, but I believe that the intention was to be funny, and the rest of the theater was laughing quite often at him.
This. Only, the theater I was in, his lines got the least amount of laughter, a few chuckles. I actually groaned at his "People make...smaller people? oh, children! I forgot the word!" line.

As I expected from you! Heyy you also laughed! :p
He was awesome.

Ηe always had issues...Its just that know, his father is Stark, so he has different ones.
He was awesome.
Yeap. "What doesn't kill me"...
He was a perfect representation of how Ultron would be if he was created by Stark.
But I will admit I wanted more menacing from him. He got beaten up too much.

Agreed, he should have been tougher.
@heatblaze123: that was one if his best lines..
@m_man: i think the point is we should never feel sorry for a being such as ultron
Ultron seemed like he was dealing with too much Stark in his voice. He's a robot with AI, I don't see how he should've even made jokes.. But Vision was by far the best in the film
Not really.
His best scenes were the ones where he wasn't giving awful one-liners.
like his debut scene.

A little bit TOO funny.
He was a bigger threat than Loki and his army because in his final form he was manhandling Thor and it took the midn stone Thor's lightning and repulsors to damage him. So he was menacing but one or two lines where misplaced and not funny bit the rest if his lines where very good or funny it was kind of like he had two personalities or maybe he just crazy but sometimes he was emotional and sarcastic and other times he was frightening. Overall I really loved the movie and ultron was great
@theamazingspidey: That initial sequence when he was just code was amazing. If he had remained that way the whole film, I'd bump it up from a 6.5 to an 8.

I'm glad to find someone that thought the same of that scene like I did.

yeah he was funny. I thought James Spader did a great job !
Me too!
I thought he was going to be more robotic, but his dialog was well written and he was an entertaining villain. With a distinct motive. Something that i felt was lacking in the first movie
I thought there were times his voice was too human. I liked the beginning when his voice was really digital-esque and creepy. He had a great introduction. How he built himself. I don't think Whedon did enough with the fact he could be/go anywhere. They set it up kinda dramatic like "OMG what if Ultron gets in the internet?" And never really brought that scary as hell idea full circle. Unless That's where he's layin low.
I didn't laugh the whole movie.
Neither did I.
At the beginning I didn't mind it so much, mainly because he literally had just been born and I liked the idea of him starting out with a child-like mind. Sadly though, by the end of the film he never grew pass that and that ended up making his jokes and silly comments annoying and out-of-character and even made the character himself come off as a joke.
@jwalser3: I think jokes are fine because comic books are infused with humor, even at the most inappropriate time. Avengers did well, and so did Guardians.
I promise you, if DC doesn't strike the right balance with humor in their movies they run the risk of taking themselves to seriously and really falling flat.
@kfabz-23: @ericmbacon: I just want a movie were it isn't a joke every fight scene. Like you said Eric, balance.
I'll let Ant Man slide though, seeing that is just how Scott is.
