Something about him just seemed a little different in Battle of the Gods and Dragon Ball Super.

I think it could be he was that way since day one, just that the animators messed up the skin color.

Remember that Bulma in the Manga has purple hair, being that the reason Trunks is the purple haired Saiyan and they give her this hair color in Path to Power.

Also not all Japanese have the same skin color.

Also it could be that Mr. Satan had a Jomon look.

Jomon are hunter gatherers, thought to have come from NE Russia. They have a darker complexion, a different language and have more body hair. Yayoi a thought to have come from Korea and are rice farmers, they are generally lighter with less body hair. Modern Ainu are thought to have descended from the Jomon.

There is the mistake that all DB characters are the same "race".

Vegeta is obviously white and is not a racist thing.

He drinks western bear, eats with fork, knife and spoon, not chopsticks like the rest, his family has names on english, bad boy shirt, all his attacks names, prince...

This made sense since they have to make it to feel alien to the Japanese.
