DC vs Marvel: which has the better multiverse

Both DC comics and Marvel comics have impressive main universes making a blog about their main universe's often cause a very mixed response so... My blog is about there multiverse or as DC call them Elseworlds. I am going to choose my two favorite alt universe's from both.

Marvel

Why?

I like the ultimate Universe because its very similar to the 616 Marvel Universe but very different.

It has the same core characters but there backstory are often very different the ultimate universe although does have its downfalls but it also has some amazing New and Changed characters... (Nick Fury,Miles Morales,Jimmy Hudson,Captain America)

Why?

Although it was short It was one of the best comics I have, read the transfer between Modern and Victorian setting was perfect and Bruce fitted the new time perfectly I prefered the second arc.

To me, DC seems much more "into" this. Especially if you want to count each "Elseworlds" as a part of their multi-verse. That said, th question is "who's is better?" Not "Which company is more into it?" That I cannot answer. For me, what I did read of the Ultimate Universe was interesting, but felt to me like Marvel was kinda copying the concept DC has had for a long time, so I feel more comfortable when DC messes around with a multiverse concept. It's part of their history. That, in and of itself, does not mean DC is actually doing it better, just that they've been doing it longer.

Marvel's multiverse is much better fleshed out if you ask me. They have better rules, a better hierarchy of cosmic characters and whatnot.

DC on the other hand, has superior else-world stories - especially given many of them are just graphic novels and only explored now and again. In fact, one could argue their elseworld's stories are usually superior to the main ones - especially for their main characters like Superman. Kingdom Come? Red Son? All-Star? The list goes on and on.

All that being said, I really do not care for the concept of a multiverse. I like when everything takes place in 1 universe and even more than that, Planet Earth. I could really care less if some alien planet is about to blow up and we gotta save it. So in that respect, I slightly prefer DC's take on it, because I get an awesome story and don't have to worry about how it affects the main DC universe and all other universes. Still, I'd rather they have somehow taken place in the Main Universe and we could see the consequences of some of that. I mean imagine if Kingdome Come had taken place in the main continuity? So awesome.

And although I realize alternate universes allow the companies to explore other ideas, and perhaps even more controversial ones (like killing Peter permanently or making Alan Scott gay or whatever), I can't help but see multiverses a complete cop-out in that regard. Be bold in your main universe.

I have to admit I know next to nothing about Marvels multiverse, so DC spitestomps for me. I like earth 2 and earth 3. When I first got into comics, well before that, when I first read a butt load of wiki pages, DC's alternate earths just rock. btw Earth 2 is the best DC comic at the moment closely followed by Green Arrow.

I'll go with DC Multiverse, DC Elseworlds stories are some of the best ever

Although I do think that Marvel's multiverse is slightly more organized

I'll go with DC. The Ultimate U was interesting to me at first but it eventually lost me. If DC were to announce any other alternate world titles I would eat them up.

is earth one a multuiverse? i thought it combined to form new earth? if not it should be your number 1, it was dcs main time line for 70+ years

AoA is neat but honestly alternate universes are DC's bread and butter (they always land face-down and are good with soup). So DC.

DC's multiverse is what got me into comics.

I know I'm very late,but I had to correct you. Marvel came out with the multiverse first with the What If stories and then D.C. followed suit.

DC has done far more with the concept of the Multiverse since the Silver Age, it's defined DC Comics as a whole

Dc came out with the multiverse with "Flash of Two Worlds" (Flash #121) in 1961.

Both Multiverse origins are confusing.

DC has some of the best stories with them but it gets a bit disorienting when you try to put them all in comparison.
