DC Teases Cyborg Superman

DC has been teasing new character designs in a recent segment called, "What's New in The New 52," and today they released a rather neat sketch of Hank Henshaw. Illustrated by Kenneth Rocafort, DC has definitely made some drastic visual alterations to the dude. Apparently, Cable won't be the only one with a ridiculous arm anymore.

"Some of you might remember the last time a Cyborg Superman showed up. Would we dare revisit such a classic storyline? Hmmm. Well, never say never, right? As I've been telling you, all bets are off. Everything's on the table.

When it comes to The New 52, Hank Henshaw last appeared in TEAM SEVEN... and as a human. This is a bit confusing seeing as Green Lantern's history is considered in continuity and that included Cyborg Superman (Sinestro Corps War, for example). But, I think it's probably best to just realize DC's continuity is all over the place at the moment and just move on, yes? Regardless, it looks like his upgraded return will be part of a new take on his last pre-New 52 appearance, and, correct me if I'm wrong, it's my understanding that was 'Reign of Doomsday.'

I like this design much better than the pre-New 52 design. It looks more sinister.

only think I don't really like is the (new cable-esque) extended right arm.. but the new 52 superman outfit look is cool and modern.. (although my favorite look is still the sinestro war black and read)

Meh bring back the old Henshaw he looked more badass.

Looks okay by me, the face artwork is really nice. He kinda looks like a "Cyborg Ash Williams" in that close-up, haha.

Now, let's get that dude dressed in some yellow again. :)

Why is his right arm twice the length of his left? Other than that, it looks really cool.

It's probably like that to show like, all of the cool toys he has in his arms.

Personally I'm not happy that it looks like Lobdell will be doing something with the character. We all know Lobdell's run isn't anything special. It might be good to some but it's nothing unique. And a unique storyteller is needed to depict Cyborg Superman correctly. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong. And Cyborg Superman will humble Superman in a fight. That design by Rocafort looks cool though. The cybernetic bits are nicely depicted on Henshaw.

I like the design but the fact that maybe Lobdell will write the character disturbs me.

I like the overall design a lot, and that's saying something considering my feelings on the designs of much of the New 52. I think the elongated arm is merely to show his capabilities and not typical of how he'll usually look.

I was hoping that he wouldn't have the Superman logo.

The yellow costume was by far his coolest. Let's get this guy a SC ring pronto! Or ten

But nah, I like it. I like the old look more but this is still cool. I don't know how to phrase it; I love Rockafort's art but I don't neccessarily like it when he draws certain character.

as for Hector, you didnt steal him, we practically begged you to take him. none of the Lanterns are on earth anymore except for Baz and Hammond is the absolute lamest GL villain anyway lol.

Agreed. I was hoping they would veer off from that. I would also like them to drop the Cyborg Superman name. If they cant think of one just call him Henshaw.

I love the idea of Cyborg Superman... I hope they revisit the idea of parodying the Fantastic Four again.

This is a good idea, I've thought similar things should be done with one of the Zooms as well (preferably Hunter Zolomon, since I just think his name sounds better on it's own).

I like the new design but I do hope the right arm gets a tad shorter, and less "Scorpion Tail" like kind of reminds me of a transformer or something lol

Omg I'll be smiling all day now! The new design is great but the arm should be retractable and metamorphic!

Btw, when did Micheal Bay's Transformer designers start working for DC?

Edit: it should very obvious that arm is retractable, you can see the blue on the fingers as well as blue pieces scattered along the arm, and even the red emblem is present on both hands. And the longer arm seems more slender and hollow.
