DC, just. And purely because I prefer some of the DC characters over Marvel's characters but it's still pretty close for me, they both have their pros and cons.
I prefer DC, although Marvel is winning in the poll. They got me on their side with Batman and I began to enjoy more and more of their characters, comics, and more.
Story-wise I have to sadly say (most of my favorite characters are from DC :/) that Marvel has more writing (JIM, Thor: God of Thunder, New Avengers, All New X-Men, Cable and X-Force, etc.) that I enjoy, but I read stuff from everyone. My favorite current stories now are done by IDW (Locke & Key: Omega) and Image (Storm Dogs) but I voted Marvel since you want to get a poll of people's opinion on the Big Two. :-) That being said, I like them both as those few who stick to one publisher are really missing out.
Best way to collect comics is to find comics you like from every publisher. That way you know you aren't missing out since you've covered everywhere. As for me, right now I like Marvel and Image, but looking into DC and maybe Dark Horse. Comics are great y0.
My top 4 characters are Hulk, Thor, Green Lantern (Hal) and Flash (Barry). Out of all of these guys Hulk is my favorite but Marvel and DC are tied in my book.
DC. Batman, Superman, and Green Lantern are my holy trinity. I love a lot of Marvel stuff too though.
I love Marvel personally...
Whenever I go with indy, it seems to be a little better for art (the ones I choose, at least), but I feel no reason to continue with them after I start. I enjoy discussing heroes and characters with people, not mention "Higher Earth" and hearing the other person say, "wat".
I went DC this time as Batman is who I've loved since a kid and grown up with. Never stopped loving the caped crusader. Then there's Green Lantern, Green Arrow and Nightwing to name some other favorites. And some great villains: Deathstroke, Joker, R'as Al Ghul (basically anyone from Batman's rogues) and Sinestro. I like Marvel a lot too though. But if I had to pick one, I'd be a lot more destroyed emotionally if DC didn't exist anymore.
Lots of DC fans on this site.
You're just now noticing this?
DC, Top Cow,Dark horse are the one I read the most. I read a bit from other companies but Marvel is at the bottom of my list I only keep up with Scarlet Spider and Venom.
DC
@martianmanhunterisbetterthancy: not a fan of cyborg? Lol
@extremis: Yeah, not a fan of Cyborg lol. Especially after he replaced Martian Manhunter as a founder. However, my loyalties are to DC and even though I am opposed to Cyborg being a founder, I have to go with it. Cyborg has potential but none of it is being realized and he seems like a useless character in the JL books.
To me, their heroes are about the same in terms of being interesting characters. But IMO, Marvel has better villains.
Comics are tied with me right now, I'm loving Superman, Aquaman, Green Lantern and Green Arrow from New 52. And I'm loving Daredevil, Hulk, Thor and Hawkeye from Marvel now.
Animation, DC is better.
Live action, I'd say Marvel is better.
I guess if I was forced to choose Id have to go Marvel.
Both
anything is better then indy.
I'll choose DC. DC heroes feel like superheroes to me whereas with marvel they just feel like heroes and right now i want a good superhero story, I am not too interested in the flawed hero concept. I sometimes feel like marvel characters have too much conversation rather than just do. I recently read some fantastic four and half way through I started to struggle maintaining interest because of all the science talk and there seemed to be too much focus on other groups for a title that is about the fantastic four. None of that stuff makes marvel bad but its just not what I am looking for at the moment.
I like them both and I always have alongside some titles from Dark Horse and IDW such as Star Wars and TMNT to be exact. Over the years though, I've fluctuated with the amount of titles I picked up from either publisher with Marvel taking an edge lately.

@flashdamn: ok, I'll check it out. Thanks.
Haha damn every week there's a new thread about this.
With titles like Star Wars, Mass Effect, Terminator, Predator, Aliens, Aliens vs Predator, Hellsing, Conan, Godzilla, and many more that beat the characters of Marvel and DC in story and history any day.
I like Marvel better for the design choices not only in appearance style, but for unique character variety overall. We have Dead Pool, the 4th wall breaker with identity and psychological problems, Magneto, the all powerful jew and the only jew who doesn't use money to gain power. Wolverine, the animal based super hero with anger issues, Spider Man, the first adolescent super hero who isn't a sidekick, The Punisher, the first hero to have a relatively mature theme (correct me if I'm wrong) and also The Hulk, the first super hero to have anger as a key to unlocking unlimited physical power. Of course the list goes on but I've worn myself out.
I prefer Marvel, but DC is great.
