I hate the term nigh omnipotent. Anything omnipotent is infinitely more powerful than anything that isn't.

For anyone who takes this literally, I think it's meant to refer to the fact that Darkseid is meant to be a physical representation of evil itself. This is especially true if this line was written by Grant Morrison.

It's from a Batman/Superman story whereDarkseid lost his Omega Effect. In order to regain the Omega Effect, he wanted to make himself look weak and humble in front of Desaad so that Desaad would be confident enough to go through the hell that is getting the Omega Effect.

Desaad planned to overthrow Darkseid with it, but Darkseid instead just took it from him.

So yeah. His falling down the stairs is him just acting.

@midnightdragon18: Well the thing is being omnipotent means having every power, and while it does mean having infinite/limitless power, there is a certain limit to how many powers there are like: strength, speed, knowledge, and an omnipotent being like The One Above All or The Presence has all of these powers. Nigh-omnipotent means you don't have ALL of these powers but MOST of them, you might be missing one, for example you might be omnipotent but not be omniscient (the more technical name for the would be 'ultipotence') which would mean you can do anything (except make yourself omniscient) but you don't know everything; or be omnipotent but not immortal which would mean that you can do anything (except make yourself immortal) but you can still be killed. Characters like Alien-X are nigh-omnipotent reality warpers because he can pretty much do anything in his universe BUT his powers can be stolen and absorbed by an osmosian like Kevin Levin or Aggregor (which is what Ultimate Aggregor was trying to do in "The Forge of Creation" episode, absorb the powers of a baby Celestialsapien so that he could become nigh-omnipotent.

There probably is going to be a true omnipotent Darkseid in a decade or so just to please everyone.
