It's been over a year and this movie is still causing debates. As much as some of us complain about the non stop bash threads and praise threads that cause debates.... WE STILL HAVE ENOUGH ENERGY TO DEBATE!!!

Take a bow Henry Cav-El
Take a bow Henry Cav-El

Seriously, no other comic book movie has caused this much commotion. Movies good or bad pass, but Man of Steel has stood the test of time and is still being talked about and has a strong enough fan base to fight back against the zingers and bashing. So stay strong CV, cus depending on the quality of Batman V Superman, I don't think it's gonna stop.

So sit down and have a drink, it's gonna be a while.

Lol. This made me laugh. It's true. The films been out for over a year and people still start fights over it. It may not have won oscars or anything else but it certainly won "most polarising comic film of the year". That's definitely a accomplishment.

Surprising thing is it won the most awards on Comic Vine for 2013.

Loved the movie. Just wanted to get that in before all the ignorance and hate starts flooding this thread.

If that fight scene had taken place in the desert Snyder still would have made it awesome and it would have been universally praised as the best fight scenes, but because it happened in the city.....

Sure.

People loved a superman movie that included the following strong moral code:

-It’s wrong to save a bus full of innocent children

-It’s right to let your father die

-It’s right to destroy a truck, that is obviously the day job of person, because your are upset

-It’s right for Superman to kiss Lois Lane for the first time in the middle of the destruction of a big city with dead people all around you and I guess a lot of people still hurting and dying but we don’t care. Why trying or even bother to save them?

Etc etc…

Sure.

Congratulation MoS.

Exactly. Though making in in the city looks cooler. I hate how everyone hates Reeve and Routh for not enough punches and not enough damage/action, yet Snyder gives us what he were dying for, and everyone freaks out and says it was "too much" and "destruction porn". Like I said I have problems with the movie, but destruction was not one of them. The fights were just simply amazing.

Call me when the fun starts.

Because i need a good laugh.

Also the whole saving people, Batman 89 did the same.

Beside the fact Superman kills Zod as muchs as Batman kills Ras.

It is certaintly an achievement!

But I think that controversy is a good thing because it showed us there are people out there who think so highly of Superman. It really shows that the character has done his job as an inspiring figure right.

Thank you.

Sincerely.

Now each generation has the myths and symbols they deserve.

I'm sure you love violent video games, you know US is the center of the world (and as MoS says, I'm more than an American I'm from Arkansas, or another state, I don't remember exactly), and that you are yourself the center of the universe.

We'll speak again about this film when (and if) you watched it with your kids.

I was personally horrified and almost left the theater.

Then I explained to my two oldest (but still young) sons that the movie itself was quite good. It was just not a superman movie.

So thanks again, I'll keep your golden star.

Maybe you will deserve your own when you grow up.

I finally watched the film a few nights ago.

I thought it was alright. Fun to watch, but has some major story issues holding it back, the fight scenes go on for too long, and too much product placement. I did enjoy it though, just didn't think it was anything special.

MoS Superman isn't perfect!?!? Oh no, It obviously isn't Superman if he has to struggle and make hard moral decisions!

It obviously isn't a superhero movie if there are civilian casualties!

Superman doesn't kill! Not ever! Not even if Earth is gonna die! He'll let that villain live and then go make himself a summer home on Venus afterwards

I do like the idea of collecting your tokens, but I think that I have clearly stated above what I was thinking of this movie and how I was considering its hardcore fans.

Now have fun kids.

It was probably a mistake to participate to this thread, but the temptation was too strong.

Because it's still going. It hasn't ended, people still have the energy to debate even if for a while. A good movie gets praised and loved and fades (The Dark Knight) a bad movie gets bashed and fades (Batman and Robin). But every time someone brings up MoS it's a long as debate. It's almost on the levels of DBZ.... almost

When it was in theaters I was too tied up with other stuff to go see it, and the trailers didn't impress me enough to make time to see it. When it finally came out on DVD I had gotten to the point I didn't want to buy anything else from DC, so I never got it then. I was in the library last week and saw it, so I decided I might as well get it then since I'm not paying money for and to finally see what all the arguments over the film are about.

2.) they both almost died horribly, they where caught up in the moment, both of them where still trembling, SORRY for 2 realistically emotional people taking the time to comfort each other.

I loved the film, my only complaint is poor editing (like, how long did it take Krypton to explode anyway? Seemed like Zod's coup, trial and imprisonment all took place in ten minutes) and some moments with Lois suddenly loving Supes seemed forced.

Other than that, it was great 8/10

A company... accepting money for product placing? Crazy

So if you funded the movie you wouldn't take the money? The only scenes that stuck out to me was that Ma Kent worked at Sears and Pete Ross at Ihop.

@saint_wildcard: It's a little overboard when it nearly made up for an incredibly expensive production budget and breaks records with its total dollar amount.

The fighting in front of the Sears was framed around the logo, making sure to keep it in the corner of the frame the whole time. That nearly made me walk out of the theater.

It's more commercial than movie.

I'll never get the complaint about product placement, WHAT people in movies using products THE BASTARDS!! It's not like after beating Zod, the military asked Clark "what are you going to do" and Clark went, "I'm gonna go get some awesome deals at Wal Mart"

It's true. Superman won the best film of the year yet it is almost universally hated online. Strange when you think about it. Most of the people i've talked to loved the film. A large amount of people in the general public loved the film. However it seems like almost every week there's a new thread about why man of steel made superman into ultraman or why it was dark and that superman killed civilians or some such nonsense.

Lol nice. There is no such thing as bad fame; for all its controversy among fans MOS grossed alright, had successful selling and has army of defenders. Looking forward to BM vs SM and possible MOS 2 in 2018 – I just want to read what people find to nit-pick about them (honestly, half of my fun on Superman’s board I’m getting from “Why MOS failed at blah-blah” and “Clois must return» threads, though last ones became more seldom recently).
