As you may have noticed, the Comic Vine Community Star went on a brief hiatus for Comic-Con, but now we're back and ready to take your votes! Who will win this week's star? You decide. Cast your vote for this week's star below, but remember to follow the rules or your vote won't count. Good luck!

Voting will begin now, Thursday July 28th and will end at 12:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on Friday, July 29th.

Community Star Voting Rules:

  1. You are allowed to nominate two people max. You can nominate yourself if you want. It can be anyone on Comic Vine.
  2. LINKS! Please post links to what the viner has done. Think like you do in the battle threads. You can't just say "GMan Curbstomps" and expect GMan to win, so give us a reason why the Viner you are voting for "curbstomps," and a link to that reason. Nominations WITHOUT LINKS, or a good reason why you don't need a link WILL NOT BE COUNTED.
  3. All nominees will be considered; however, the winner is not decided only by the number of votes alone. The winner is also decided by the content the nominee has contributed to the site. This isn't just a popularity contest. Having the most votes does not guarantee a win.
  4. Unlike Mat, I won't haunt for the rest of eternity by singing you "Kiss from a Rose" if you don't have fun- but I really do hope you guys have a great time. After all, what's the point of being on Comic Vine if you aren't having fun?

The following is a list of previous winners, so please don't vote for them again!

He (his gender is listed as "other", so I'm just going go with he) has 107,224 wiki points!!!
he has dedicated 86,257 of those wiki points on the Public Domain Characters page. He really has done a lot of work on it!
he is the second highest user to edit Jack Kirby's page with 619 points of work (and isn't that page really insightful into the man who was such a great creator?)

not only has this being edited a lot, but he has also contributed to the forums with 6,615 posts on the site (that is 2,000 more points sense I first nominated him back in 6/16/11!) and most interesting is his blog posts on the terrible time machine (which focuses on...uh...not good at explaining what). He has also been a submitter to the fun forum known as The Pulp Fiction Game and has made some really funny titled covers through that.

lastly, his reviews are quite interesting. There we see some reviews on older obscure comics we don't really see reviewed normally on the site.

Lastly, would you vote against a user with a profile pic as scary as that?

I nominate castleking. He's been around here for a while, and though his threads are abundant in Off-Topic, I find them insightful as well as inoffensive (as many threads tend to be in that forum section), and applicable to everyone (i.e. he won't make a Tupac versus Lil Wayne thread).

He's also one of the few classic members (classic to me) who didn't take off when things got gnarly in the forums, and stayed loyal to the pack.

I also nominate myself, because I bring nothing to the table, and my only wiki edits are minor grammatical changes to the Invincible page. My battle threads get about 35 posts on average, and I haven't read anything from Marvel or DC in years. I'm also really good at derailing threads and distracting people, and I love Big Macs.

edit: I can also post this if it helps:

Castleking  - One of the better users on the site.
MTHarman - I haven't participated much in the Community Star thing but MTHarman is another user I have respect for. Much like Haydenclaireheroes he makes great blogs and videos but his specialty is in the bad guys, the villains, the ones who give our heroes a purpose. He has accumulated 44, 319 wiki points as of right now but he works pretty hard to make this a better site so I'm sure it won't stay at that for long.
#12 Edited by Timandm (3374 posts) - - Show Bio

So, I can nominate two people, yes?

CastleKing  (What difficulus said)

cattlebattle -  This guy creates interesting threads and comments on many of the others.   He seems to have great insight into the ins and outs of comic book stories.  He's a good source of information, and is able to disagree with someone in a respectful manner.

I Vote CastleKing he's been around from what I understand since October 14,2008, has collected 2,211 wiki points, not to mention close to 24,000 forum post and has shown a great deal of potential  not only for his Reviews but for his general attitude towards other CV users (which I have to say most of the time when a user becomes popular that sense of "power' for lack of a better word causes them to loose their connection to the lesser known Vine users)

Also from an RPG/Fan fiction point of view if you look at his profile you will see that it is well written and neatly created this shows he really does have the makings to go RPG if he so chooses

CastleKing

and for this he has my vote

I would vote for CastleKing as well... he has been on this site for a good while... has well over 2,000 wiki points ( which means he is contributing to the site itself ) and he also has over 23,000 posts... I see him posts very interesting blogs often on the boards as well... I think he is perfect for the whole Community Star thing...

turoksonofstone. I mean, as of now he(I assume) has oh just 86,257 points on the public domain page, one of my favorite pages on the site.

Also he blogs pretty often about things going on in the outside world. I know it's hard to accept things outside of comics are important too.

the defunct publishers list he created is notable too.

I'm only casting one vote and it's for him.

I second this nomination (but will write up my own version as well to show appreciation for Turok)

As earlier mention, this week I nominate

TUROKSONOFSTONE > - -> Ad Majorem Nosferatu Gloriam. Habeas corpus. Mellita, domi adsum. In caelum cerevisiae est nullum, Itaque hic bibemus illum. Veritas Vos Liberabit! Carpe noctum, Carpe noctum. CV's resident Nosferatu expert, rips the head of Comic Vine wiki points database, leaving a carcass of 107 thousand, 224 hundred points. 107, 224. Thats a bloody massive number. Pages worked on include Jack Kirby,  Georges Jeanty, and various more humble comics publishers/companies, including Quality comics,FoxGold Key, and Centaur. Turok absolutely mauls with his page on Public Domain Characters, one of the best pages we have at the site. Its a treasure trove of characters and a bloody great resource!

Turok's reviews have semi-coagulated in recent weeks, but I only think that adds to the rich flavor staked into each one, he has 16 in total, but don't expect any mainstream books here kids, Turok can't reflect in a mirror, so he chooses to reflect on smaller, less popular comic titles. Which is awesome. One of the many highlights being the finale to Silkcuts Project 500. A Crisis Review. Actually a lot of Turok's reviews are great, just go to any random one. Like one on Pep Comics which introduces The Shield. Oh, and this one was awesome too!! About Miracle Man. It can be a bit heart staking to see such great reviews go unnoticed by the larger majority, so to shine a non UV light on them would be great. Oh and with Marvel owning Miracle Man now... Lets move onto lists now shall we? The only other lists I have seen as big as Turok's list (418 items) of Godly Comic Book Creators, are usually lists about which Comic Characters are hottest... uhm.. anyway, thats a big list paying tribute to a bunch of creators, but Turok has a list which punctuates the neck of that list before sucking out all its blood in the form of his Public Domain List. 1077, items, 1077 characters. That list is here!

I have not yet even detailed Turok's Blogs yet, but they are as numerous (over twenty pages of them) and as thought proving and as raw as his lists and reviews. Whether it be original content, like this blog on Villain Swaps, talking about Golden Age Revivals, oh and cool, interesting, fascinating topics about Giants? etc even his VS blogs are a class above the norm, check this awesome one out, they highlight Golden Age characters, and are very detailed and expansive, educating people on the characters as well. He has over like 12 of these types of blogs alone, and always quick to be a source of news, and information, help keeping CV users aware with threads like, this one about the massive water reservoir found in space, this one about the Norway attacks, which I have to thank him for, because I try to avoid news generally, but was made aware of this though his blog actually.

So lots of linked reasons as to why he should win, but one of the most important reasons, is that every week, Turok nominates someone and he usually spends time on his nomination, and he has actively campaigned for many, many other people to win, and each week, when someone does win? Turok has always congratulated them. In return? He doesn't ask for anything, nor does he expect anything, in fact he starts nominating a new person, each time, someone he nominates wins. He's a great, and humble person and deserving I feel for this reason as much as any other. Oh, and how could I neglect to mention the Pulp Fiction Thread! Always a valuable contributor, in recent weeks Turok has been the one scouting for images for people to use to make covers for, aiding the very awesome Ms Star! (just check the last page to see some of the amazing covers he has put forward)

Lastly but not least, Turoksonofstone has a very clever and constant theme. Many posters do this, but Turok is one of the best and most consistent!

ROGUE MARIE > - - >  Was one of the first people to be nice to me at CV! So welcoming and kind, good qualities most definitely, I'll put my bias aside for the fact that rogue marie has Rogue in her username (which really should be enough reason for her to win lol) to mention she has over six thousand wiki points, 765 of them hiding with Cinderella, and 621 of them, sleeping with Sleeping Beauty, both characters, she is the top contributor of and a bunch of points for a bunch more characters including Cowgirl, Dean Winchester, Aeris and Marie, (the adorable cat not herself) but wait, there is more, rogue marie also has a bunch of really funny blogs, none are too serious (oh, the Gif making one is really helpful though) but yeah, there are a lot of them that will just make you smile (like Damian to Nightwing letters) and oh some more, and just others you can browse though. rogue marie also has many wonderful lists, like one about awesome Green Lanterns, and one that celebrates artists. Unfortunately one of the best ways I think rogue marie contributes to CV (and thus deserving of recognition) is not that easy to link to, and that's the generous and abundance amounts of thread appropriate GIFs. So you know, chances are if you have ever come across a RM post, 5 times out of ten, it might be a gif! 0_0, there are lots of other more subjective reasons i think rogue marie deserves recognition.

gotta echo the sentiments on turoksonofstone.

I suck with the whole 'providing links' thing but I can say I went to at least 5 threads today because following him provides a great gauge for both the golden age & PD stuff I love and all the crazy controversial threads that occasional pop up that are worth peeking in on. The man knows how to find them and does it like a machine :)

I heard recycling was good.

I'd like to once again press for the acknowledgment of   KillerZ's   contributions to this site.

He has slowly but surely worked his way up to becoming one of the top contributors of the Vine with   262, 502   wiki points. Thousands of which were earned by fleshing out pages for some of comicdoms most notorious femme fatales like   Tigra   and   Lady Death . If his wiki contributions don't impress how about one of his six   lists ,   one of which   features a collection of nearly a thousand anthropomorphic animals from all eras and genres?

This is going to be a close vote. Turok is a head by one vote with 16 votes (I'm counting every vote, so it might be counted differently as some don't have links), but Castle king is right behind him with 15. Rogue_Marie currently has 9 votes.

So, If you are reading and you believe someone should win:

and if you have voted, please put links! or your nominations will not be counted!
