Welcome back for another week of the community spotlight. This week's edition happens to fall on Black Friday, or as people not from the USA call it, Friday. Anyway in light of that I am offering a special deal on the spotlight this week, as the first 10 people to post in this thread get a wall post and a congratulatory internet high five from me. There are a lot of blogs this week just as a forewarning and generally just a lot of content altogether, so grab a tea or a coke before sitting down to read this one.
Blogs
I saw this last week but it was still under construction as Broo1232 takes a look ahead to the February covers from Marvel and gives some of his own insight on them. Broo also points out what it is that he loves about Stuart Immonen's art.
AgeofHurricane has a look at the state of mutant affairs as the Marvel NOW reboot starts off.
Nicodemus shares his thoughts on the new TMNT.
Acid Skull ranks his favourite 10 fights of the Hulk over a wide range of appearances.
Another week, another rant on the new 52. This one is pretty well done by IronHawk22. Not to be outdone in company fixes, feebadger tells us how he would fix Marvel. In the same vein, Rabbitearsblog asks if Marvel Now is the best place to start for new readers. And Strider92 identifies 4 characters that should make a comeback in the new 52.
Ironhawk22 also misses an Oracle in the DC continuity and has a suggestion for the return of the character.
Arnoldoaad breaks down some of the gimmicks which are used to sell comics, including some we might not always think about. Also he has a detailed examination of death in comics.
KrspaceT had a look at what the Trinity War will need to do to be successful
Gordon Kelly tells us the television series he would like to see involving DC characters.
Both god_spawn and Lvenger gave us their most desired cross company crossover battles.
Sora returns with his first roundtable in a while dealing with how the roundtable participants got into comics.
And HCH gives us a video explaining her favourite fallen heroes.
Fan Fic
A really good idea is this one from batkevin74 to increase the number of comments for fan fic.
Ravager4 continues DC Mayhem with Guardian of Earth #3. More Dc Mayhem - Joygirl's Justice Society of America and batkevin74's House of Mystery.
Joygirl also got together with andrewtheking for an interview about why and what she writes.
Wildvine writes in the Marvel Nexus universe on Spider-Rogue.
Artists and Their Art
Blackmoonrose13 continues to share some colouring how-tos.
RPG
So as usual I don't really know anything from anything else in the RPG forum, but clearly the catchphrase of the week was CVnU with numerous RPGers getting their names behind this new universe (each of the following has a write up of one kind or another linked here - _Yowie_, Impero, _zombie_, darkchild, Alistair_, Gambler, Gambler again). Go check it out but if you want to join in make sure to check out the rules and ask for some advice. On the topic of Gambler though, he lot a fairly big bet to me this week, and now is in my servitude.
More RPG - Portrait (real identity to be protected) works up some RPG magic with Dorian Gray.
Once again to show off my ineptitude with RPG this thread was also well received, though I am not sure why. Good work though for Lady_Liberty.
Battles
God_spawn and TheAcidSkull used their extensive knowledge of Marvel mutants for two excellent respect threads - Cyclops and X23.
The vine challenge give us World War Hulk versus Sephiroth courtesy of Floopay and TheAcidSkull.
Reviews
An upward swing in blogs usually seems to be associated with a downward swing in reviews (or vice versa) for some reason, but not this week as there were also a lot of reviews. To go with the mainstream here are a few worth checking out - RedQueen for Captain Marvel, pspin for Supergirl, CircularLogic for Wonder Woman, johnkmccubbin91 for the new Thor, grifter78 for Grifter and pingclang for Fantastic Four.
For the indies Tomlikesfries reviews the Beast in Cave, ThanosRules returns for a review of Retrovirus #1 and Faeye gives her insight on Locke and Key.
Funnyfishman has been looking back at The New Mutants from the 1980s. There are quite a few of these reviews but here is one. Another oldy is What Lies in Shadows' review of Ghost Rider #100 from 1982. Another still is MaxSchreck's review of a TPB collection of stories from Morrison's run on the title. Finally tomlikesfries reviews an older X-Men TPB.
And for what is probably the best of the week from across CV (I saved the best for last), BloodWolfAssassin taps his inner Etrigan and writes a review of Demon Knights in rhyme.
Around the Vine
StMichalofWilson takes a look back at one of his favourite cartoons from his childhood as he gives a quick rundown of Gargoyles.
Ica shares Thanksgiving wishes (or as people not in the USA call it, Thursday) and lets her RPG alts in on in as well.
The following is an extremely in-depth (take that to mean long) look at misconceptions about the use of the dark side of the force in the SW universe by Silver2467.
A couple of threads worth checking out - Should Joss Whedon have the helm of the X-Men films?, StMichalofWilson has a look at TMNT (again) and a new 52 timeline for Superman courtesy of lordgawain.
JediXman lets us know his thoughts on the new video game Dark Soul. Another review is Nerd of Hero's review of the Spider Man musical. And another from StMichalofWilson on a Superman book, the Last Days of Krypton. And another from johnkmccubbin91 for All Star Superman (scroll down the page to find that one.) And finally YNCG and Ica team up for a review of Skyfall.
