Why did they create this, besides screwing over anyone who doesn't use dollars with their dodgy exchange rates?

It's just when I went onto .com, I was told that my credit card would probably not work there anymore and to go onto .eu. That would be okay, only .eu exchange rate/regional pricing is terrible compared to the main .com one. It's after ****ing me off and I'll probably use dark horse or image more in the future if I can't find a workaround.
