It's really hard to do a strong and consistent trilogy because movies like the Nolan Batman films and the Raimi Spider-Man trilogy can be undercut at the end despite all their hard work previously. Anyway, I'm voting for LOTR as that captured the magic of Tolkien's books and made it fresh and accessible for generations of old and new fans alike.
Where's BTTA?
What's that?

I meant BTTF.
Back to the Future.
1. TDK trilogy (i'm biased)
2. Godfather trilogy
3. Dollars trilogy
4. LOTR trilogy
5. Spiderman trilogy
it's a tie between the original Star Wars and the LOTR trilogy for me. As much as I loved the first and second films of the Spider-Man and Dark Knight trilogies the last movies sold them short.
Honorable mention goes to Toy Story.
My ranking:
The top spot is really between the Godfather, the Dollars Trilogy and the Lord of the Rings. For me, it's the Dollars Trilogy, all three films are great - Masterpiece. In my opinion, the Good the Bad and the Ugly is the greatest film ever made and my favourite.
Not that I necessarily would have voted for them, I think both Back to the Future and Austin Powers should have been an option.
Not sure overall what I vote for tbh.
LOTR
They are the only trilogy (besides Toy Story/Godfather) that were consistently amazing throughout, and Godfather 3 kind of sucked.
If you are talking about which has the most influence on pop culture, I would definitely say Star Wars.
But in terms of pure quality, I think LOTR was the most consistent out of all the movie trilogies

The Dollars Trilogy was consistently amazing.
@rogueshadow: True, but LoTR was even better (in my opinion)
Each one was nominated for so many Oscars and the Best picture oscar

Irrelevant.
Not to mention at the time, Leone and Spaghetti westerns were written off as foreign trash.
Toy Story!!!!
Have to go with my childhood on this one.
Ok
I'm not here to argue, Its just my opinion that Lord of the Rings is better than the Spaghetti Westerns

I'm not arguing with your opinion, if you think LOTR was better, that's fine, it was an amazing trilogy. I was just pointing out that the Dollars Trilogy also had consistency and that Oscar nominations are not the be all, end all.
No Cornetto ?
Damn. Good point.
Star Wars for me. Still love those movies. Darth Vader is one of the most iconic and memorable villains of all time for good reason. Honorable mention to the BTTF movies; always felt they were one of the best explorations of cinema time travel. I'll also mention I don't know what these "Spaghetti Westerns" are, so I have no idea how I would rank them.
For me, I just never cared much for the LotR movies. Way too much slow motion being overused all over the place. Replacing the non-character Glorfindel with Arwyn was fine, but repeatedly flashing back to her was a rather ham-fisted way of shoving a romance angle into the movies that had just about nothing to do with what was really going on. Frodo constantly came off as a fairly weak and incapable main character. Merry was changed from being a fully mature and competent adult to basically being a clone of Pippin. The books certainly weren't perfect (Tom Bombadil was always a bit of a "WTF" moment for me), and Boromir and Faramir are certainly leagues better in the movies, but on the whole, I think I find there is too much overdramatizing done in them for me to truly enjoy them for the 12 or so hours they run. Hell, just cutting out the slow motion alone might cut that down to 11.
@rogueshadow: The Dollars Trilogy was great, but The Good, The Bad and The Ugly was the only TRUE masterpiece in my opinion, the other two were very enjoyable films but not masterpieces, in my opinion that is.
